The island has a long and colourful history due to the influence of Chinese, Malay, and Europeans. You can visit Old Phuket Town where you’ll have an opportunity to see unique Sino-Portuguese architecture.
There are also colourful houses and buildings that create a very different atmosphere from the beaches. Don’t miss out visiting temples such as Wat Chalong and iconic Big Buddha, especially if you’re interested in history and culture. Media attention and word-of-mouth from visitors have also boosted the reputation of Phuket. Phuket’s beauty has been highlighted in various movies, creating an incentive that makes people visit, who then spread the word to others.
As a result, overtime, this destination has become one of the top must-visit places in Thailand, particularly for new tourists to the country.
