Why do we celebrate the independence day of India?

The Indian Independence Day is celebrated on August 15 to commemorate India's freedom from British rule in 1947. After Independence, India became the world's largest democracy after the UK Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act in 1947, transferring legislative sovereignty to the Indian parliament.

But why do we celebrate this day with so much fervor and celebration? On this Independence Day, let's look at why we celebrate independence day in India in detail.

What happens on Independence Day?

On Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India gives a speech from the Red Fort in Delhi. This is followed by a 21-gun salute and the singing of the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

Then, there is a parade of armed forces and floats representing different states of India. Finally, fireworks are set off to conclude the celebrations.

Indians also celebrate their independence with social gatherings where people sing songs and play patriotic games. Many families also celebrate it as an opportunity to spend time together over dinner or lunch.

Contributions of leaders who contributed to Independent India

Indian independence resulted from the contributions of many leaders who fought and sacrificed for it. The most notable figures include Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Subhas Chandra Bose.

Each leader brought a unique perspective and skill set to the table, which helped contribute to the eventual success of the independence movement. For example, when Mohandas Gandhi initiated his civil disobedience campaign against British rule, he began with an order from the Indian National Congress.

He was arrested soon after and sentenced to six years in prison; however, he served only two years before being released by sympathetic British authorities.

Our struggle for freedom

British rule in India lasted for nearly 200 years, and our struggle for independence was long and hard-fought. On August 15, 1947, India finally became a free and independent nation.

Since then, we have celebrated this day every year as a reminder of our hard-won freedom. We celebrate Independence Day to honor those who fought for our country's independence and remind ourselves of the values we hold dear as a nation: democracy, equality, and justice.

Freedom is never really won. You earn it and win it in every generation. — Coretta Scott King

If you want total security, go to prison. You're fed, clothed, given medical care, and so on.

Is this independence true?

The answer may be different for each person, but for me, I believe that this independence is true. After all, we did gain freedom from British rule.

Furthermore, India became the world's largest democracy after the UK Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act, 1947, transferring legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly.

Finally, I think it's important to celebrate this day because it reminds us of how far we've come as a nation and how much we have to be proud of.

Four years ago, what did we do to celebrate our independence day?

On August 15, 1947, India finally won independence from the British after years of struggle. The momentous occasion was celebrated all over the country with great joy and enthusiasm. People from all walks came together to rejoice and thank the brave soldiers who fought for our freedom.

Since then, we have celebrated this day with great pride. On this day, we remember all those who sacrificed their lives for our country, and we pledge to work hard to make India a better place.

It is not just a day for celebration but also a time to introspect the many problems that still need to be solved. For instance, even today, many Indian women do not have equal rights or access to resources as men. But as long as we keep striving, things will only get better.
