Being unsure what you can and can’t take on a plane? Or having no idea about what can I bring on a plane? Is pretty standard with most travelers. Because often, travelers are found in a dilemma with the frequently changing rules and regulations for airline travels. Packing your carry-on bag is a significant preparation before your flight. You have to figure carefully what you can put in your checked luggage and what you may need during the flight. Follow Tripztour travel guide to know more about what thing allowed in an airplane.

Unfortunately, you also have to keep a check on your luggage and restrict it to the size of a school backpack.

I know you’re in this exact dilemma of what can’t you bring on a plane? And what can you take on a plane in checked luggage? So, I have created a list of items to help you get the right idea about what not to bring on a plane? And what can you bring on a plane?

What Can You Bring In Your Carry-On?

I am a big follower of traveling only with a carry-on bag. What it means is, you have to carry minimal stuff to lug around; you also don’t even have to pay extra baggage charges. So, the paragraph below will assist you by mentioning the lists of items that you can bring in your carry-on baggage.

Small Tools

Small tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers are permitted only if they are less than seven inches or equal. You can also carry pill cutters, nail clippers, and scissors with their blades being less than or equal to 4 inches from the pivot. All other tools must be securely wrapped and packed in checked luggage.

Gels, Aerosols, Non-flammable liquids, Foods, Drinks & Toiletries

Nearly all gels(like toothpaste, face serum, hair gel), aerosols(dry shampoo, spray-on deodorant, hairspray) are permitted in carry-on bags. Liquids like liquid medicines, beverages, face toner, nail polish are also allowed. However, all these gels, liquids, aerosols, including drinks and food, must be 3.4 ounces or less.

Lighter & Matches

Passengers are permitted to carry one book of safety matches and a regular lighter. However, games that can be lit up just by slight friction are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage.

Knitting Needles

Perfectly wrapped sharp knitting needles are permitted in carry-on baggage and checked bags.

Gifts

Wrapped gifts will be unwrapped for inspection by security screeners. So, It is better to take your presents unwrapped until you reach the end of your destination.

Electronics

Portable, small electronic items such as cell phones, tablets that are generally smaller than regular-sized laptops need not be removed from the bag. Larger electronics like full-sized video gaming consoles, laptops should be placed in a separate bin.

Expensive jewelry, disposable and electric razors, and small pets are also allowed for travel.

What Can’t You Bring In Your Carry-On?

Packing is nothing less than any art. I know you’d agree with me, especially if you’re on a long journey. A stinky carry-on bag can turn your mood off while traveling, or it might land you in trouble for security checks. Here are a few things that should never be packed in your carry-on bag?

Athletic Equipment & Sporting Goods

Sporting equipment such as baseball bats, hockey sticks, hiking poles, golf clubs, tent poles, etc., are prohibited from carry-on luggage and should be transported in checked bags. Some exceptions include snowshoes, tennis rackets, and longboards.

Sharp Objects

Items like box cutters, knives(excluding plastic utensils), razor-type blades, and scissors exceed 4 inches.

Self-Defence Objects

Security does not permit brass knuckles, blackjacks, martial arts weapons, and several self-defense sprays like pepper spray.

Gel-Type Candles

Gel-like candles can only be transported in checked bags.

Alcohol In Large Quantities

As per the 3-1-1 rule, passengers can only carry alcoholic beverages that do not weigh more than 3.4 ounces. However, bottles of wines/alcoholic drinks that are up to 70% alcohol are permitted only if they are in unopened packaging. If you want to carry multiple bottles, you have to contact the airline and confirm their limits.

Guns And Ammunitions

Unloaded firearms, compressed guns, BB guns, pistols, pellet guns can be transported via checked luggage. As per TSA, firearms carried in checked baggage should be unloaded, packed inside a locked container, and declared to the airline official at check-in.

Whenever in doubt, asking the airline regarding rules and regulations is always the best option.
