Nike is the world’s largest athletic apparel company. Nike is best known for its footwear, apparel, and equipment. Surprisingly, when it was founded in 1964, it was named Blue Ribbon Sports. The company became Nike in 1971 after the Greek goddess of victory.

You can purchase their sportswear from offline stores, online website, and their subsidiaries. You can find many top athletes in a sponsorship partnership with Nike.

Nike can be thought to be in a league of its own. It has dominated the market since the start and continues to do so. No matter what is your actual use in sportswear – Nike will deliver.

Fun Fact: The famous Nike logo, a solid swoosh, was designed for just $35 by Carolyn Davidson, a student at Portland State University. Later on, she was given more than $640,000 worth of Nike products

Adidas is a brand that has some unique facts associated with them. This brand was started by two brothers: Adolph Dassler and Rudolph Dassler. The brothers started with spiked shoes for track and field. They founded the company Gebrüder Dassler OHG which we now know as Adidas.

Their shoes became quite popular in the 1928 Olympics. Jesse Owens who won 4 gold medals for the US wore a pair of Addidas shoes in the same Olympic event. Adidas was named the official supplier for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Adidas is also in the news for sponsoring one of the greatest football legends – Lionel Messi.

Fun Fact: The Founders of Adidas – the Dassler brothers, joined the Nazi Party prior to the war. They even produced a weapon called “Panzerschreck” an anti-tank bazooka.

Puma is partnered with a lot of sports athletes. One of its major partnerships is with Usain Bolt. Usain has used Puma shoes in multiple Olympic races.

Fun Fact: Puma is founded by Rudolph Dassler who is one of the founders of Adidas along with his brother, Adolph Dassler. Their relationship deteriorated due to which Rudolph started its own company, what we now know as Puma.

Fun Fact: The founder created the name to have many L’s so that it would sound western to Japanese buyers. Japanese often have difficulty pronouncing the name. He later remarked that he found it “fun to watch Japanese pronounce the name”.

Under Armour received its first big break in 1999 when Warner Brothers contacted Under Armour to outfit two of its feature films, Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday and The Replacements.

Under Armour is constantly promoting its products with many celebrities out there. One of its most fiscally beneficial marketing strategies has been its collaboration with actor Dwayne Johnson, who has endorsed the company since January 2016.
