The image showcases a vibrant graffiti design that centers around a detailed illustration of a lemonade truck. Bold black outlines and bright colors in shades of orange, blue, green, purple, red, and yellow come together to create a dynamic and playful composition that adds energy and personality to the space. Graffiti has long been considered a controversial art form, often associated with vandalism and rebellion. However, at the University of Home Economics, my friends and I were given the opportunity to explore graffiti in a more structured and creative way, as part of a wall graffiti challenge. We were given only 3 days to complete our project.

As a student of Visual Communication & Design, I have always been fascinated by the power of art to communicate ideas and emotions. So when the challenge was presented to us, my friends and I were excited to showcase our creativity and artistic skills

(Day 1) Me and my friends sketching out the preliminary design for our graffiti project on a blank wall using drawing pencils.

Together, we brainstormed a design that would be both visually striking and meaningful. We began by creating a rough sketch of our design, which included a lemonade truck with lots of funky colors. The idea behind this design was to create something that would be visually appealing and would also reflect the warm, sunny weather of the summer season.

Once we had finalized the design, we began the actual process of creating the graffiti. We used Master Paints enamel to carefully apply each layer of paint, creating a colorful and vibrant piece of art. The process was a labor of love for us, as we spent hours meticulously applying each layer of paint to create a visually stunning piece of art.

(Day 2) we started with painting.

When the project was finally completed, we were incredibly proud of what we had achieved. The lemonade truck was a vibrant and eye-catching addition to the wall, attracting the attention of everyone who passed by. As it was located near the university cafeteria, it was the perfect way to create a sense of summer fun and coolness on a hot day.

(Day 3) of us doing outlines and final touch ups.

The reaction to our graffiti was overwhelmingly positive, with students and faculty members expressing their appreciation for the creativity and skill that had gone into the project. We were even awarded first place in the wall graffiti challenge, beating out five other projects to take the top prize.

For us, the experience of creating graffiti was deeply meaningful. It allowed us to explore the potential of graffiti as a form of artistic expression, while also giving us the chance to work together as a team to create something truly special. It was a reminder that graffiti can be a legitimate form of art, one that has the power to communicate ideas and emotions in a powerful and meaningful way.

Of course, graffiti is not without its controversies. Some people view it as a form of vandalism, a way of defacing public property and causing damage to buildings and structures. However, in our case, the wall we were given to work on was not public property, but rather a designated space for graffiti. This allowed us to explore the potential of the art form without causing any harm or damage to public spaces.

In the end, the graffiti project at our university was a powerful reminder of the potential of art to inspire and engage. By working together and exploring new forms of expression, we were able to create something truly special, a piece of art that captured the essence of summer and brought a sense of joy and playfulness to the university campus. It was a reminder that graffiti can be a powerful tool for communication, a way of expressing ideas and emotions in a way that is both visually stunning and deeply meaningful.

As a student of Visual Communication & Design, the graffiti project at our university was a formative experience for me. It allowed me to explore the potential of art as a tool for communication and expression, while also giving me the chance to work with my friends to create something truly special. It was a reminder that art is a powerful force for good in the world, and that through creativity and collaboration, we can make our voices heard and our ideas come to life.
