The history of Toyota dates back to the 19th century when Sakichi Toyoda invented Japan’s first power loom, thereby revolutionizing not just the country’s but also the world’s textile industry. In January 1918, Toyoda Spinning and Weaving Company was founded, and in the year 1924, he along with his son, Kiichiro Toyoda, founded the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works.
