The Correct Chronological Order of Kaleidoscope Netflix Series

Kaleidoscope is the newest addition to Netflix’s heist genre, starring Giancarlo Esposito as the mastermind behind the multi-billion-dollar heist. Doesn’t it sound like Money Heist and other typical robbery shows? Not really! According to the creators, viewers do not have to follow a specific order to watch the episodes. They claim that you can watch it in any order, and it will not disconnect the story.

The news took over the internet, and every viewer made it their mission to find a loophole in the plot to prove the creator wrong. But without success, the viewers gave up and decided to follow their own order to watch the show. The show has eight episodes, each named after a color. Building onto this, lets dive into popular watching orders for Kaleidoscope.

Is It Necessary to Pick an Order?

No, you do not have to follow a specific order to enjoy Kaleidoscope; and according to the internet, there are almost 40,320 different orders to watch it. That’s because each episode is a connecting piece to the grand heist.

All you have to do is click play, and the starter promo will tell you a bit about the show and how it can be watched in any order. So, while not giving spoilers, here is a quick glimpse of each episode.

Yellow

In the Yellow episode, the heist master, Leo, forms a team of expert robbers to loot the most secure vault in New York City and lands the biggest heist of the century. It’s six weeks before the heist, and introduces the show's key characters.

Green

The Green episode shows how Leo broke out of prison with the help of a cellmate. After his escape, Leo meets a loved one and plans revenge on the government. This episode takes place seven years prior to the heist.

Blue

The execution of the heist starts in the Blue episode. The city is preparing for a hurricane and the FBI gets a tip that something big is about to happen. The events of this episode happen five days before the heist and set the whole plot for the biggest loot of the century.

Orange

In the Orange episode, we are sent into the past again, giving the viewers a deeper insight into FBI Agent Nazan’s background and how she and Ava share a history. The episode takes place three weeks before the heist and offers an insight into the struggle the characters are going through.

Violet

The Violet episode takes the viewers back in time to when Leo decided to leave his criminal life behind and started living as an honorable family man, but soon loses his balance because of a persuasive partner. The events in Violet take place 24 years before the heist.

Red

The Red episode takes place the morning after the heist, where every member gathers and discusses the problems that went down during the heist. It shows their mistrust onto each other and how that affected the heist.

Pink

Six months past the heist, the gang has shattered and members are living their lives in hiding. Some together, some alone, and some in a devastated state. In the Pink episode, the FBI takes it as an opportunity to turn the members against each other.

White

This is the day of the heist - the day when the big plan that took 24 years was supposed to succeed but did not. The episode reveals every aspect of the heist, and how it fell apart.

Orders to Watch Kaleidoscope

Coming back to multiple orders of watching the show, here is a quick overview of some popular orders that netizens have created of how the viewers can enjoy the show.

Chronological Order to watch Kaleidoscope Netflix Series

So, if you are a fan of watching things followed by the chronology, this order is for you.

In this order, you start the show 24 years before the heist when Leo was still a young robber and end it with the episode that talks about post-heist events.

The order goes as follows:

  • Violet (24 years prior to the heist)
  • Green (7 years before the heist)
  • Yellow (6 weeks until the heist)
  • Orange (3 weeks to the heist)
  • Blue (5 days before the heist)
  • White (the day of the heist)
  • Red (Morning after the heist)
  • Pink (6 months after the heist)

This is an ideal order if you wish to go by the book. However, Netflix has suggested viewers watch the White episode in the end to maintain the level of suspense for the finale.

Tarantino Order To Watch Kaleidoscope

The official Netflix account suggested this order for viewers who like to enjoy the show in Tarantino style. The order begins in episode Blue, five days before the heist, and ends in episode red, the morning before the heist. The proper order goes like this:

  1. Blue (5 days before the heist)
  2. Green (7 years before the heist)
  3. Orange (3 weeks before the heist)
  4. Yellow (6 weeks before the heist)
  5. Violet (24 years before the heist)
  6. Pink (6 months after the heist)
  7. White (the day of the heist)
  8. Red (the morning after the heist)

This order will build the viewer’s curiosity about how each event connects with the next, leaving open ends and answering some questions before they are raised.

Rainbow Order To Watch Kaleidoscope Episodes In Order:

If you are a person who loves coordination, you can watch the show in the rainbow order, starting from

  • Red (Morning after the heist)
  • Orange (3 weeks before the heist)
  • Yellow (6 weeks before the heist)
  • Green (7 years before the heist)
  • Blue (5 days before the heist)
  • Violet (24 years before the heist)
  • Pink (6 months after the heist)
  • White (the day of the heist)

Or, if you want to rebel, you can go all rogue. Begin with white and then climb down the stairs of how it all came together.

Kaleidoscope is one of the best series I have watched in recent times, and it is often compared to the Netflix series 'Money Heist' but it is very different and way better in my opinion.
