I wanted to visit my younger years, and good memories, so I strolled out in the country side around Dover, Delaware. I learned what I had forgotten about my own home town, and just how much it had developed over time. I found out just how diverse it had become, and how much it had changed over the years.

I used to live in Amish country, when my oldest son was a baby. I found out that while I was living in my own memories, many things had changed and that many things had stayed the same.

For instance, there were still Amish, but there wasn't as many of them, as I had remembered.

I apologize for not taking one that had a horse hooked up to it, but that is one of the things that has changed. There wasn't as many of the Amish buggies on the road, as I had remembered. It could be they are afraid, the people in cars drive like maniacs.

I remember driving to work, when we lived in the Amish country, many years ago now, and being behind them, I got impatient for fear of being late. They would always pull their horse and buggy to the side of the road, and wave you by. The buggies have everything your car does, windshield wipers, and headlights, and horse power, in the literal sense.

Once when my ex-husband took the keys to our car accidently, I literally hitched a ride in an Amish Buggy, to a nearby house to call. We had recently moved back to Delaware, and hadn't had our phone hooked up yet. One thing I can tell you is that the Amish buggies do not have shocks on them.

I wondered if they still had the agricultural fields. Delaware pays you to put Agriculture on your deed. and they pay you handsomely to the rights to your property. You still own it, however, there is agriculture on your deed, and it can never be built upon and you can never sell the property to a developer.

I was happy to see the fields growing in pastures, and it bought back pleasant memories of my childhood and early adulthood.

These were the fields I remembered as a kid, and young adult, and they are still beautiful today.

We drove a little further into the country side, and I spotted something that was all familiar to me. "The Amish Sawmill." The Amish that ran the sawmill used to sell lumber as well, and I spotted a pile of lumber, so I was relieved to find out this is one of the places that hadn't changed.

As we kept driving, we came to a country store, named Bylers. I was relieved to see it was still there and thriving. Bylers is the one place, you could buy in bulk, and it was run by the Amish and Minnonite population. It bought back memories of when I would buy there for my grown sons, to help them out, because it was less inexpensive.

They even have hitching posts to tie their horses up to, but as luck would have it, I couldn't find any horses hitched up to it, on the day I was out there. I don't go out there very often, since I have been sick. I order a lot from Amazon, since I have been handicapped.

However, this was a nice stroll down memory lane. One thing that was always featured in the parking lot, was the Amish woodworking.

They make everythiing from picnic tables to lawn chairs to swing sets. I personally have a cedar chest I bought at this very store, many years ago. I have cherished it over the years.

Not all of my memories bring back good feelings. I cannot forget that my son was murdered in this area, and I went out searching for his killer in this area.

However, a lot of my strolls can be painful in its memories , but yesterday's drive through Amish country proved to be positive.

I would like to thank my friend Billie, for telling me things change and are not always the way you remembered them.

That is why I we took the stroll, and at my age, you take the good feelings, when you can get them.

I will end each and every article the same way until the United States is no longer in conflict of any kind.

PLEASE PRAY FOR PEACE

PLEASE STOP THE VIOLENCE IN THE US AND ABROAD

Till Next Time.
