Are there any great benefits to being a writer, even if you are not a successful one? As a successful writer, the world is your oyster. But, as a struggling writer still waiting to get a break with a bestseller, it is not such a lucrative profession. I think that the best thing to do would be to keep your writing as a side hustle, till you make it as a successful writer, who can survive and pay the bills with the income from your writing. In the meanwhile, just stick to doing that boring day job.

A reminder of the benefits of being a successful writer is given below, it is something to look forward to once that status is achieved. Make becoming a successful writer your New Year Resolution.

It increases writing job opportunities: The gigs will seem to just flow to you, once you have established yourself as a writer. Sometimes it takes a few years, while at times, it just takes one great job to open the doors of luck and opportunity for you.

Develops the thought processes: The more that you keep writing, you will find that it is easier to write materials without thinking too much about them. There was a time when you needed to make two drafts before you prepared a final composition. However, after a while, your first draft may be your final copy.

Gain experience in the craft of writing: Your experience in the craft of writing will improve the more that you write and create diverse literary pieces.

Gain more exposure for your writings: As a popular writer, you will receive a lot of media, and social media coverage. To become successful, you need to do your own publicity, till you get recognized as a writer in your field.

Aids in the healing process: Writing is a wonderful aid in helping a writer overcome difficulties in life and it does aid the healing process.

Helps create social connections with other writers: When writers interact online or offline, it does help in building connections and building powerful relationships, between authors in an engaging writing and reading community.

The ability to be a blogger: Most writers were or are bloggers as well. Blogging helps writers to test their materials with the readers, and to know what appeals and does not appeal to the taste of their readers.

The opportunity to publish e-books and novels: Almost every successful writer is a published or soon to be published author of books and eBooks.

To increase the powers of observation: Writers are observers of the world they inhabit. All writers interpret the world with their insight and power of observation, which is unique and special.

To improve and refine research methods: As a writer, I develop a number of ways to do my research online and offline. Making notes, searching the web, databases or libraries are a few of the avenues open for research. It is up to the writer to use the most suitable method of research. After a few years, a successful writer will have his or her own streamlined process for conducting research for books, articles, and literary projects.

The ability to assist other writers: Almost all writers enjoy assisting other writers in the craft of writing, marketing, and publicity of their books, eBooks, and other literary materials. Several successful writers also have popular podcasts, which are worth listening to as they are filled with a lot of useful materials for new authors and writers.

Helping people to change through your writing: The last and most important purpose for every writer, both the successful and the newbie, is that writing does make a difference. When a piece of writing is developed and crafted with finesse and skill it will make a change in the heart and the mind of the reader. Writing does change the writer and the reader while keeping them together in a powerful symbiotic literary relationship, that is healthy for both writer and reader.
