Why I Won't Edit Your Book. Top Story - July 2022.
The other day, I was talking to a newer writer who wanted me to go through their writing and explain how it could be improved. I outright refused and they were unhappy with that, but we were interrupted and I didn't get to explain why I wouldn't do it. So, instead of explaining why to that person, I'm going to explain why to you.

Innovation has made book distributing simpler than at any other time. You never again need to get a specialist and sign a book bargain. You never again need to go through the flood of dismissals from distributing houses.

Narrative Writing – What Is It and Why Do I Care?
Narrative writing is the bread and butter of all good storytellers. It is how we tell our stories, connecting the events, the people, and the places together. But narrative is so much more. While a “story” can catch the reader’s attention, it leaves it up to the reader to draw their own conclusion when the story ends. However, a “narrative” is the combination of the story and the plot that drive it. It unites all the distinct events in the short story, novel, or essay – fiction and nonfiction alike – and typically contains a beginning, middle, and end.

To Be A Great Writer, We Must First Transform The Reader
There's a significant transformation that comes with writing: the reader. It's one thing to entertain yourself with stories, articles, and blogs, but it's another to put someone else in that seat. To invite them into this made-up world and let them see what you've created. There's a thrill in watching their reaction, learning what they take away from it all.

Free Vocal challenges?
When I first stumbled across the Vocal platform I was so excited! I had finally found a way that I could make some extra money and expand my writing skills. I had read a review about the site and was really excited to join and start writing away. To my surprise when I looked more into it I discovered that it could be difficult to earn any sort of money if you are not a Vocal+ member. I get some of the differences, but some of them made me feel discouraged in my journey here. I thought to myself, "What if there was a way to meet in the middle to offer free members some more added incentives?" And what better way to bring my ideas to Vocal's attention than to write my own story about it? While I know that it may be a stretch I figured it wouldn't hurt to possibly get some things improved for free members of the community.

The Purpose of Definition
It may be obvious that a definition essay serves a purpose: it is meant to simply define what something is. It is not always easy to define terms in writing. However, how we define terms can have a wide-reaching impact on individuals and groups.
