The myth of self-made billionaires.
It is no secret that the public loves to hear stories regarding self-made billionaires. You can find stories like that everywhere, from the news, tv shows, movies, books, and even political panels, and some of these stories go way back in history, into the most troubled era of the 20th century. The narrative of these stories is that these self-made billionaires are people who, unlike the aristocrats and monarchs, did not simply inherit their wealth from their family’s privilege, but they created their “own” wealth starting from zero. This myth though can be misleading, hiding historical truths, as well as financial facts for these so-called self-made people. At the heart of every favourable depiction of a billionaire is the myth of a success story with just sheer hard work and grit.

Guy de Maupassant - selected short stories
My appreciation of short stories was given a false start when my first exposure to this genre was through reading the likes of Frederick Forsyth and Geoffrey Archer. Or watching "Tales of the Unexpected". All of those stories were fast paced and always ended with an unexpected twist that made me smile, made me gasp or wonder how on earth the author came up with that idea?

So, my name is Rani. And this is my story of the mystery package. As I came home from work on 25 of October 2022, I saw a very big strange mysteries package on my doorstep. The package had no name on it who it was from only my address and my name. I step outside my street to see if I can see the person who left it so I looked left and right but I could see no one. I went back to my front step thinking what the mystery box could be and who it could be from.
