How to choose a good refrigerator in a few steps

In the average grocery store, more than 50% of goods need to be stored at low temperatures. Therefore, the lion's share of expenses when opening a retail outlet falls on commercial refrigerators for sale. But when planning a purchase, it is important to understand that modern refrigerators cannot only preserve food but also increase sales!

Refrigeration devices are used today for a wide variety of tasks, including:

To create an inventory of perishable products;

For demonstration of products to the buyer (refrigerated display cases);

For displaying goods in departments and self-service stores;

For the preparation of dishes and semi-finished products in grocery shops (for example, refrigerated tables for making pizza, cutting meat, etc.);

For cooling products (eg beer, juices) in order to increase their attractiveness to the customer.

From history

Perhaps the first well-known example of the use of a "refrigerator" for solving marketing problems dates back to 1681. For the first time in history, the owner of the Parisian café Prokop, Italian Francesco Procopio, began serving ice cream to visitors. To make a cold treat, the restaurateur used a container filled with ice. The fashionable innovation has greatly increased the popularity of the cafe. Soon, similar freezers appeared in many places in Paris.

Criteria of choice

The choice of refrigeration equipment is individual for each outlet. What should be considered first?

Store area and layout

Competent arrangement of equipment, both in the office premises and in the trading floor, will help to optimize stocks of goods and fully present the assortment to the buyer.

By the type of installation, refrigerators can be built-in or free-standing, table-top, as well as mounted. It can be placed against walls or on an island basis. In shape, there are vertical and horizontal models, angular and rounded, standard or embody the most daring design ideas. The most suitable solution can be selected for any room, the main thing is that the use of the equipment is convenient for both the buyer and the store employee.

Trade service form

The set of necessary equipment directly depends on the form of trade in the store. For objects with service through the counter, first of all, closed refrigerated display counters with a glass front surface, chests for deep-frozen products are needed. Self-service retail outlets should be equipped with open showcases, cabinets and refrigerated cabinets, enabling the buyer to pick up the goods on their own.

Shop assortment

The refrigeration market offers a wide range of choices. There are both universal and specialized solutions for trading. So, if you sell chilled cod and trout, pay attention to open display cases for displaying fish on ice; it is recommended to equip the cafeteria with a pastry display case for a beautiful display of cakes and sandwiches.

When choosing equipment for different types of products, it is important to take into account the temperature conditions of the units. Commercial refrigerators are divided into low-temperature (from 0 to -10C), medium-temperature (from 0 to + 10C), universal (from 0 to + 5C).

Service class

Refrigeration equipment is subdivided into economy, business and luxury equipment. A small shop in a rural area may well do with refrigerators of a low price segment. A gourmet food boutique obliges owners to maintain a premium level in everything, including the use of elite-class equipment.

Technical features

In addition to the temperature regime, other technical parameters of refrigeration devices are also of great importance. What should be considered?

Cooling type

Commercial refrigerators are divided into devices with built-in and external refrigeration.

In large supermarkets, refrigerated display cases and cabinets are usually connected to a central refrigeration system. In this case, the compressors are taken out of the trading floor. Thanks to such an organization of the process, there is no noise of operating units in the hall, the air is not heated by the compressors, which means there is no need for powerful air conditioners.

Independent devices - refrigerators with built-in cold storage - are perfect for small retail facilities because they do not require complex installation and are easy to maintain.

Cold supply type

Refrigerating devices can operate with forced or natural (static) air circulation. In refrigerators of the first type, cooled air is uniformly supplied throughout the chamber by means of fans. In static-type devices, cold spreads naturally; therefore, the temperature on different shelves of a showcase or cabinet may differ. Refrigerators with a ventilated interior are usually more expensive. But I wonder if refrigerators with a magnetic drive have already appeared, which has already been written about in https://www.nytimes.com/2002/02/19/science/building-a-better-refrigerator-with-magnets.html?searchResultPosition= 2

Noise level

An important parameter: regularly receives complaints from citizens about shops that exceed the permissible noise level at night. The punishment can be fines and bans on the use of refrigeration equipment that breaks the silence.

Service maintenance

Modern commercial refrigerators are a rather sophisticated technique that requires high-quality care and regular service. This should not be neglected.
