Qutub Minar

One of the historic buildings in Delhi, Qutub Minar, was built about 1,000 years ago. This tower, 73 meters high, looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Qutub Minar, built by Red Sandstone, is also India's tallest tower. However, it is no longer allowed inside of it. To get here, you have to get down the Qutub Minar Metro Station. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. For Indians, 30 rupees for foreigners and foreigners have to take a ticket of 500 rupees.

Made of red and yellow sandstone this minaret, is one of the tallest towers in the world. Its height is 72.5 meters (237.86 feet) and it has a total of 379 stairs. Its diameter on the base is 14.3 meters and only 2.7 meters on top.

Construction of Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar was built by Kutchbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi in 1199 AD. Aibak had built the ground and first floor of the Qutab Minar. Later, his son-in-law and successor Iltutmish created three more floors in it.

How it named As Qutub Minar

The name of Qutub Minar is named after Qutubuddin Aibek, but some historians say that it was named after the famous Muslim saint Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki.

Compared to this, Rs 14.25 crore has been earned from Lalkila. In the year 2017-18, the earnings increased from Qutub Minar to Rs 233 crore. However, the revenue earned from Red Fort is 14.5 crore.

Best time to visit Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar is place which is best in all seasons all through the year. The premise is open from sunrise to sunset i.e. from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm all week through. You can go anytime of the year. But, because Delhi is too hot in summers, avoid this season if possible.

Number of steps in Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar is a 73-metre (239.5 feet) tall tapering tower of five storeys, with a 14.3 metres (47 feet) base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres (9 feet) at the top of the peak. It contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps.

Qitub-ud-Din Aibak

The construction of the Qutub Minar was started by Qitub-ud-Din Aibak, but he only constructed the basement. The construction of the tower was later taken over by his successor Iltutmish who constructed three more stories. The last two storeys were completed Firoz Shah Tuglak.

The Taj Mahal is 243.5ft. in height while the Qutab Minar is only 239ft. The Taj Mahal is so proportionately constructed, one can never imagine that it is taller than the Qutab Minar, the tallest minaret in the world.
