One-week stitching workshop

Introduction:

Be Positive Productions Pvt. Ltd. organized a transformative one-week stitching workshop under Women Empowerment Program 2023 (WEP’23). WEP’23 is an initiative by Be Positive Productions that aims to foster women empowerment through entrepreneurship and skill based learning. In this program, multiple workshops were conducted which inspired and supported business acumen women, particularly in underdeveloped regions like Chiniot. This program is designed to empower women by providing them necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures. The workshop was more than just a training session; it was a journey of self-discovery and empowerment for the women who attended. This one-week workshop aimed to empower women by instructing them in valuable stitching skills (sewing, cutting, and hand stitching) promoting financial independence, and fostering a supportive community.

Be Positive Productions is grateful for the collaborative support of Sanat Zar, an industrial home in Chiniot under the Department of social welfare & Bait-Ul-Mal. The collaboration played a vital role in making WEP’23 a resounding success. Sanat Zar’s commitment to fostering culture and artistic initiatives demonstrates their understanding of the profound impact such events can have on communities. Through their support, Be Positive Productions were able to deliver high-quality projects, create a conducive learning environment, and ensure the overall success of the workshop.

Schedule and Activities:

The 7-day workshop was packed with activities, covering various aspects of stitching.

Day 1: Participants learned three distinct types of stitches and explored the art of hand stitching.

Day 2: Participants were introduced to the basics of trouser cutting.

Day 3: They accomplished their newly acquired skills by stitching their own trousers.

Day 4: Participants were introduced to the art of shirt cutting.

Day 5: Participants put their newfound shirt cutting skills into action by stitching their very own shirts.

Day 6: Participants were taught the art of cutting baby frocks.

Day 7: The participants displayed their skills by stitching the baby frocks they had cut.

Exhibition Day:

After one-week workshop Be Positive Productions organized an exhibition, displaying all the clothes stitched during the workshop. The exhibition took place at Sanat Zar (District Industrial Home) Chiniot and was graced by chief guest, Muzaffar Abbas, Manager Sanat Zar Chiniot. It received great appreciation from the local community and media. It was a proud moment for everyone involved.
