Newsbreak Comments

I was told not to read them, but WOW, I can’t believe what people have said about my work.

When I started looking into writing for Newsbreak, I read several things. One was that certain stories do better there than Medium. They prefer local articles, but I started transferring my Medium articles over there, a few at a time.

I was also told that it pays better than Medium, which I am finding out. As my Medium monthly amount goes down every month instead of increasing, that is simply not true at Newsbreak. In fact, I just put an article on Newsbreak that really made my earning jump up!

That being said, the main thing that I remember when it comes to Newsbreak is that you should NEVER read the comments. They can be downright cruel. I have found this to be true also!

It amazes me what people have been saying about some of my pieces. So surprised that I feel like I have to share them here.

One of my most popular articles really had people talking. It was entitled Throw Away the Retractable Leashes.

Here are some of the best comments that I got.

  • Stupid friggen article. I’ve used these leashes for years without any problems.
  • The response to it: Ikr!!!! What nonsense will they come up w/next 🤦🏾‍♀️
  • nonsense 🤦‍♂️
  • if you know how to properly use one it’d not a problem duh
  • Never had a problem with a retractable leash. Just need some common sense.
  • just be smarter people don’t read this crap
  • Stupidity. My dog has had the same retractable leash for 13 years. Never had a problem.
  • I’m guessing that this article was written by a special needs 10 year old
  • You can have the same criticisms of conventional leashes. Just self described expert who want to hear himself talk.

Crazy! I was just giving my opinion, and I can’t believe that people think that I have no common sense and am a ten-year-old!

I have a series that I wrote on Medium that was pretty popular. Recently, I started putting them on Newsbreak. These articles are about Things that Vet Techs (And Vets) are tired of hearing.

I still have two pieces to put on Newsbreak, but the comments are a bit wild. Some of the crazier ones include:

  • Big deal. Deal with it. You’re working with the public at emotional times. Grow some skin and be patient and kind and let it roll off your back.
  • The response to above: That’s exactly right ✅️ otherwise they should change jobs!!
  • This one makes me cringe the most: I don’t care what they’re tired of hearing. As much as my vet bill has been, I’m almost tempted to memorize all of them and repeat them multiple times throughout my vet visit.
  • I just love it when employees start to complain and demonize the very people that provide the money that goes into their paychecks. So tacky and unnecessary.
  • The response to above: Exactly. Get over yourselves!
  • Wow, i it wasn’t for the pet owners spending soooooo much money and making appts for every bump and bruise on their pet — she would get paid or have a job. Ungrateful much. I hope she doesn’t work for my vet. Yeah, I have spent thousands on my pets and just like the dentist, doctor, contractor or auto mechanic — we complain about the bills.
  • Vets like any human Dr are not in it the profession because they care!
  • Then get another job
  • Another article that had a lot of comments was entitled Tips To Prevent Falls in Seniors.

    The comments included:

  • When walking on snow or on an icy sidewalk, point your feet outward a bit. Walking like a Penguin keeps you on your feet. I’ve been doing this for 15 years and have never fallen.
  • don’t walk
  • don’t get up
  • You are what you eat … then I’m fast, easy and cheap.
  • Don’t walk.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can you believe some of these? I certainly can’t! It must be nice to be able to write whatever you want, without worrying about hurting someone’s feelings.
