Friday, September 9th, 2016 — Brussels Airlines is looking forward to the winter season, when more direct Brussels Airlines flights to Africa will be added and the number of flights will go up. In the spring, Mumbai and new European summer destinations will be added to the network.

Europe

This winter season, which starts on October 30, 2016, Brussels Airlines will stick to its plan to serve not only the capitals of Europe but also the most important parts of the continent. Brussels Airlines has 10% more seats and plans 5% more flights this winter than it did last winter. A quick look at what's new.

5 cities in Europe that were already served in the summer will continue to be served in the winter: Nuremberg, Dublin, Nantes, Porto, and Naples

During the winter, Brussels Airlines adds more seats to some destinations that are growing quickly: Lisbon is now served ten times a week instead of seven, and the schedule is even better for trips on the weekends. Malaga goes from having seven flights a week to having ten flights a week, and both Tenerife and Marrakesh get an extra flight. There are also more trips to Edinburgh and Billund.

On the routes to Warsaw, Oslo, and Toulouse, the number of seats will be increased by 45%. Instead of AVRO RJ planes, Airbus A319 planes, which are bigger, will fly to these places during the winter.

New summer holiday destinations

Brussels Airlines will add three new summer destinations in the spring of 2019.

Brussels Airlines has a flight to Funchal once a week, so you can fly to Madeira all summer long. Also, there is now a flight to Rhodes once a week, which adds to the options for the Greek islands.

Comiso is the gateway to the south of Sicily. Along with Palermo and Catania, it is the third airport that Brussels Airlines will serve on the Italian island.

This summer, the Belgian tourist went to Italy more than ever before. Thomas Cook's bookings for Italy went up by 7% compared to 2015, and this trend is likely to continue in the coming years. So, Thomas Cook and Brussels Airlines are adding more destinations in Italy and giving Belgian vacationers the chance to visit Comiso.

"Because we have a strategic partnership with Brussels Airlines, we can meet the growing demand from Belgian tourists to go on vacation to the south of Italy. With Comiso, we now have a beautiful new place to visit. From our new hotels Sentido, Acacia Marina Sicily, and the Athena Resort, which are all only 30 minutes from the airport, our guests can easily get to the fine sand beaches of Sicily.

Intercontinental \sNorth America

Last spring, Brussels Airlines started flying to Toronto, and it went well. During the winter, the airline will run four flights a week between Toronto and Brussels. These flights will make it easy to get to places in Africa and Europe. Toronto is also a great place to start a trip to the U.S. or Canadian West coast.

Africa \sWinter season

People who want to go to the African sun will also be happy to hear that Brussels Airlines has good news for them. Between December and February, there will be a direct flight to Banjul on Fridays instead of the short stop in Dakar on the other four flights to Banjul each week. This will allow twice as many people to fly on that flight.

Also, there are still daily flights to Senegal. From December to February, there are more seats available on Fridays because there is a direct flight to Banjul on that day.

Brussels Airlines is also increasing its presence on the east coast of Africa by adding more flights to Kigali (Rwanda) and Entebbe (Uganda).

Summer season

Starting at the end of March 2017, Abidjan will be served every day instead of just six days a week.

Accra will get five direct flights a week instead of four, and the schedule will be changed to make it easier to get to places in Europe and North America via Brussels in less time.

India

On March 6, 2017, Brussels Airlines will start flying to a new continent for the first time. They will fly to Mumbai five times a week.
