StartWhat plot facts does Disney keep hidden about its movies?

Why are we fated to be alone?

Why was Violet from The Incredibles 1 so shy and nervous?

Are you satisfied with "Zack Snyder's Justice League"? Did it meet your expectations?

As somebody who was really looking forward to watching Zack Snyder fall flat on his egocentric face, and his toxic Fanboi base rend their unwashed GamerGate/Trump T-Shirts in lamentation?

It was…actually not horrible, and a better film than Whedon turned in. It had most of the usual Snyder filmmaking issues, but it also had a coherent story (for a change!), and both Cyborg and The Flash got to have complete character arcs. Aquaman didn’t have as far to go from the earlier cut, but his Bro-ness was intercut with anger at how his mother abandoned him, and longing for a life he wasn’t sure he could ever be a part of. Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Henry Cavill all turned in much stronger performances here, and it was great to finally see Jeremy Irons’s Alfred in all his peevishly paternal glory. The bits of humor even felt earned, rather than shoehorned in.

I could have done without it being Shot in IMAX (which just means it plays like an old pre-Widescreen movie on my 16:9 UHD screen!), Snyder needs to stop being afraid of color, and his Epilogue meant to set up future movies in the DCEU reminded me of film scholar Maggie Mae Fish’s comment in , “We’re Already Dead!” But, much as it pains me to say this — The Snyder Cut is the best thing Zack Snyder’s ever done.

How is Netflix’s Top 10 in the U.S. Today determined?

If Wanda is set to be the main antagonist in Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness, could this version of Wanda actually be a variant from another universe and not the Wanda from the main MCU universe?

Is Raya and The Last Dragon an instant Disney classic? Why or why not?

Yes, and I’ll tell you why. Spoilers follow.

Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon was an enjoyable film. I liked how it was an action movie, rather than a princess movie. Like the studio's recent Mulan remake, it is obvious that Raya's vivid imagery was made for the big screen. However, it can still be enjoyed on Disney+. One trap that Disney movies often fall into is outdated, even stereotypical humor. Raya skillfully avoids this, thanks in no small part to Awkwafina, who steals the show as Sisu in all of her forms. "Look how close my butt is to my head" was a great line, one that only Awkwafina could pull off. Tuk Tuk was just perfect comic relief. The gag about Raya's terrible jerky was also hilarious. As I alluded to above, the artwork was one of the highlights of Raya. They really made us believe in the magic of the dragons. During the obligatory briefing scene in any action movie, Raya even switches to traditional animation, which was a great choice. It felt like something out of a show, rather than a movie. The final fight scene had a similar feeling. The attention to detail is just great. During the opening scenes, you can see that young Raya's teeth are more spaced out compared to the rest of the film, indicating the passage of time. Unfortunately, this attention to detail also serves to Raya's detriment, as the film strives to do action scenes without really doing action scenes, because it's Disney. When Raya fights Namaari in Spine, there is one point where the elder princess takes Raya by the leg. There is no in-universe reason why Namaari doesn't break Raya's leg, immobilizing her. It wouldn't take much - they could have given one of Sisu's siblings healing magic - but that would fix one of the primary plot holes of the film. Another hole was when Boun, Tong, and "Con-Baby" Noi were evacuating the Fang citizens, and they told them to go to the water, when Tong had just established a few minutes earlier that Sisu's death had resulted in the depletion of the lands' water. The story, though, was very engaging. They took potentially one-dimensional characters like Boun, Tong, and Noi, and gave them more layers, without compromising the essence of the characters. Overall, it was very fun.
