Moms! You can escape the rat race and start working from your kitchen table.

We all know the rat race.

The one where you clock in at 8 am, work until 6 pm, come home to your kids and have dinner with them before they go to bed.

You are most likely tired of the rat race, but it's worth it because you can provide for your family. But what if you found that there was a way out of this, a better way?

Well, there is!

And it probably doesn't require more effort than your current workload demands. In many cases, an internet connection and some creativity are all you need.

The point is, you can escape the rat race, and this article will show you what's possible.

What's Wrong With The Rat Race?

For most people, life is a linear path. They go to school, get their degree or certification, then find a job. Then after years of hard work, they retire. This process is how society teaches us to live our lives. Society tells us that this is the only way to be successful. And while this is true to a certain degree, there is another option available to us. One that allows us to make money without having to spend hours every day at a job we hate. It also gives us time back, so we don't feel like we're missing anything when we care for ourselves.

That option is entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship isn't just about starting up your own business; it's about becoming self-employed. Self-employment means running your own company. That could mean selling products online, creating apps, writing books, designing websites, etc. There aren't any limits on what you can do if you put forth enough energy into making something happen.

So why not try being self-employed instead of going through the traditional 9-5 grind?

Well, here are three good reasons to consider:

#1- Freedom

Getting self-employed allows you to set your schedule. If you want to wake up early and write code, you can. Or maybe you'd rather stay late and finish off projects. Whatever works best for you. As long as you meet deadlines, you'll never run out of things to accomplish.

#2- Flexibility

When you become self-employed, you no longer have to worry about getting fired. Sure, you still might lose clients over time, but no one will force you to quit your job. So even though you may end up doing less overtime, you'll always have plenty of free time to pursue other interests.

#3- Money

Research proves that entrepreneurship pays well. According to Forbes Magazine, entrepreneurs can earn $100k per year. While that number varies depending on who you ask, it's safe to say that those numbers are pretty high. Plus, once you've established yourself, you can quickly scale up your income by hiring employees.

All the things you can get from working from your home show what's wrong with the rat race.

But Wait... Isn't Starting A Business Too Hard To Do On Your Own?

Not necessarily. Many entrepreneurs build small businesses using technology. These days, anyone can create a website, build an app, design graphics, market themselves, sell products, etc., all from their laptop. All you need is access to the right tools and knowledge.

If you already know how to use these technologies, great! But if you don't, don't sweat it. You can either learn them in person or take advantage of online courses such as Lynda.com, Udemy, Skillshare, CreativeLive, and many more.

You could also hire others who are skilled in specific areas to help you along the way. Maybe someone knows graphic design, marketing, programming, social media management, customer service, accounting, legal services, etc. The possibilities are endless.

What Possibilities Are Out There When You Work From Home?

The sky is the limit when it comes to opportunities. Some examples include:

Selling physical goods via Amazon FBA

Freelance writing/blogging

Online tutoring

Virtual assistant jobs

Transcribing audio files

Data entry

Product reviews

Social media management

Customer support

Graphic design

Programming

There's no exact answer to how much you can expect to make because every situation is different. However, according to one study, freelancers earned anywhere between $10-$50+ per hour. And another survey found that freelance writers made around $25-$35 per 500 words. Of course, this doesn't account for taxes, benefits, overhead costs, etc.

In terms of a yearly salary, some work-from-home businesses make upwards of $120K while others only pull in $30K. And like most things, it depends on various factors, like what type of business you're running and where you live.

Is There A Catch?

Many people read articles like these and expect to make six figures right out of the gate. But that's not a realistic expectation. It takes years before you see any significant profits. You're better off expecting that a good percentage of newbies will fail within the first few months. Nevertheless, there are ways to increase your chances of success. Here are just a couple of tips:

#1- Be patient

This undertaking isn't something you should rush. If you want to succeed at anything, you must put in consistent effort. Also, don't think, "I'll do it tomorrow." Instead, set aside time each day to focus on growing your business. Even if you have other responsibilities, carve out 15 minutes here and there so you can stay focused.

#2- Find mentors

Having a mentor helps tremendously. They provide guidance and advice, which allows you to avoid mistakes they've made in the past. Plus, having a mentor means you won't be alone. Other entrepreneurs may offer feedback about your product, give suggestions regarding growth strategies, share ideas, etc.

#3- Have an exit strategy

As mentioned above, starting a home-based business requires patience. So why would anyone want to invest their precious free time doing something that might end up failing anyway? Because once you get going, you need to have an exit plan. Otherwise, you risk losing all your hard work. For example, maybe you decide to quit after three months. Or perhaps you find yourself spending too much money on advertising. Whatever the reason, having an exit strategy ensures you aren't wasting valuable resources.

Conclusion

Starting a side hustle or full-time business from home has never been easier than today.

More people are turning to the internet as a way to earn extra income.

Whether you choose to sell products through Amazon FBA, run a blog, become a virtual assistant, or launch a membership site, there are countless online business ideas for moms available to help you reach financial freedom.
