Make it work this way anyway

Paying off student loans

A rather discouraging picture, isn't it?

Sadly, this is true for many Americans (including your truly) when it comes to dealing with loans from college even after we got our degrees, which for some reason are becoming more and more worthless.

That being said, there has to be a better way for people to pay off their student loans.

Here are some ideas.

Worthless degree? Get your loans knocked off by volunteering.

Since it has been nothing but hard for me finding work as an entry level historian, I could have volunteered at the Minnesota History Musuem in downtown St. Paul, but it doesn't pay-off my student loans.

That being said, why not have the people in charge of student loans deduct the amount of loans owned through volunteer work?

The more time spent volunteering, the more funds get knocked off. If the individual quits volunteering, the money is then calculated, and the amount of volunteer hours deducts the amount

Example 27 days volunteering=$27,000 removed.

I know there are organizations like that out there and it's nice to know that there are such organizations out there who are willing to help.

Working a job that doesn't need a degree? get an additional payment from Uncle Sam

For those of you with "worthless degrees" who are working some job that you hate, you should get paid more anyway. Not that the company should pay you more (unless they decide to give you a raise). The money should come from the government.

I know that I am already getting $339 from social security ($379 during the pandemic) but it would help if I was given more (like 1 or 2K a month to help with my student loans)

Nevertheless, the government needs to spend money on the people of this country who wanted to work smarter, not harder, by going to college, yet wound up working harder anyway and racking up student loan debt.

Encourage more educational or academic institutions to hire entry level people anyway.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people like me to find a career with my credentials? Employers in the academic fields seem to want to overlook my History Major/Philosophy Minor and pursue someone or something else.

Has it occurred to them that they should just hire such people anyway?

A lot of people are quitting jobs they hate because they want to pursue something they enjoy and if it just happens to be a worthless degree, that is no excuse to not to hire them when they are at the entry level.

Pass the bill off to the Ultra-Rich

The former so-called Secretary of Education Betsy Devos has ten boats, two helicopters, a Yacht Scheduler and a very lavish lifestyle that no-one can afford.

Elon Musk is so rich that he can afford to get into a pissing contest with other billionaires to see who can get into space first.

Jeff Bezos can afford a yacht for his yacht and can also afford to pay the city of Rotterdam to dismantle a historic bridge so that his oversized yacht can get through.

Then of course you have politicians like Mitch McConnell, Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema, who seem more interested in collecting a paycheck from various other Ultra-rich types that want to keep putting people in debt rather helping the people of this country get out of debt.

Since these "people" can afford to buy such luxuries even during a pandemic, then I say they should be the ones saddled with the debt.

Why should we have to struggle to pay off student loans and other debts, when they don't have too?

I would have suggested Donald Trump getting hit with this too, but the former Scumbag-in-Chief is already hemorrhaging money, even though certain banks are still giving him money.

I have asked people on Quora this very same question and all they have given me is dumbass remarks that don't answer the question or give me the impression that I am too lazy to pay off my debts.

That is why I wrote this piece.

So, the question I have to you the reader is this:

Don't you agree it's time to make things a little easier?
