Because the internet has seen explosive growth in users, more and more businesses are utilizing it to build brand awareness and gain exposure to customers. Consumers are increasingly using the internet to research companies, read reviews and buy products and services. Therefore, it makes sense that so many brands are leveraging the power of the internet to reach their audience on this popular channel.

You might be wondering how to use the internet to connect with customers. There are several ways.

Launch a Website

To launch your website, invest in affordable web hosting and choose a content management system (CMS). A website for your business will act as your online headquarters where customers can contact you, read helpful content and get customer service. You can significantly increase your online visibility by having a company website. This is done by boosting search engine optimization (SEO), which helps make your site more visible in the search engines. For example, if one of your webpages ranks in the top results for a certain keyword, more users will see your website and are more likely to click on it. In fact, 60% of clicks go to the top three websites in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Therefore, if your website appears in the top three search results, you'll receive tons of traffic. This gives you greater opportunity to drive more sales and increase conversions.

Create Social Media Accounts

Major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest have billions of monthly active users (MAUs) combined. These numbers will only continue to increase as time goes on. This means that by having a social media account, your business will have huge reach. One important thing to note about social media platforms is that because you're reaching such a large audience, you'll be connecting with lots of people who aren't interested in your business and offerings.

That's why specific targeting will be so valuable to your social media strategy. With specific targeting, you'll be able to customize your audiences in a way that allows you to deliver your social media ads to those who are more likely to engage with your business and buy your products. You can customize your audiences based on a variety of factors such as demographics (i.e., gender, age, location, etc.), interests, preferences, online behavior and more. This way, you're able to control your ad spend and make the most of it.

Invest in PPC Ads

Of course, you want your website to show up in organic search results, but you can also gain rich by investing in pay-per-click (PPC) ads. These ads show up in the search engines above organic results. You can distinguish these ads from organic search results because the word "Ad" appears next to them in the SERPs. The great thing about PPC ads is you don't have to rank for a keyword in order to show up in the search results. Instead, you bid on keywords that are relevant to your business. Also, PPC ads are an affordable option because you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. If someone clicks on your ad, they're likely interested in your business and might be looking to make a purchase soon because they searched for a specific term, which shows intent.

Get Featured in Major Publications

Getting your brand featured in major media publications is one of the best ways to add more value to your online marketing campaign. These global, big-name publishers have millions of readers. If you can get some of your content published on these sites, there's pretty much no limit to who you can reach. You'll not only be generating brand awareness, but you'll also be positioning yourself as an authority in your industry as well as building a strong reputation.

The internet is such a powerful channel to connect with potential customers. There are so many digital avenues you can go through to reach the people your business was made for.
