The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has established the Food Safety and Compliance System (FoSCos) to make it easier for food businesses to do business. Food Business Operators will continue to receive consumer grievances. They will respond to these grievances in a timely manner at FLRS only until the improved version of the Consumer Grievance Module in FoSCos is built.

Objectives of FoSCos FSSAI

The main objectives of the FoSCoS FSSAI are as follows:

To change from the present FLRS, which only serves as an FSSAI registration platform, to a central food safety compliance regulatory platform.

To create a technically advanced integrated application that has the possibility of future upgrades and functionalities and is capable of increasing user traffic.

To improve the application’s user performance and make the application process more effective and simple in order to boost the convenience of doing business among FBOs.

To get the least physical documents and facilitate business process flows for FBOs for online applications.

To allow the application to input business-specific information such as GST No., CIN No., and PAN No. to guarantee FBOs are profiled and validated from all angles. FoSCos will also be incorporated with the Government of India’s GST, PAN, MCA, and other platforms for this purpose.

For smooth operations, inspection reports (FoSCoRIS) are now accessible in FoSCos. Instead of the 29 papers previously displayed, a list of documents specific to the Kind of Business (KoB) must be uploaded. Additionally, no signed documents need to be uploaded for Tick Box-based online disclosures.

In FoSCoS, there is a clear classification of Kind of Business (KoB); for example, Nutraceuticals and Novel foods have been introduced as independent categories under Manufacturing.

The FoSCos FSSAI form collects PAN, CIN, and GST numbers, which can be used for future authentication and 360-degree profiling of FBOs.

The updated menu list and Dashboards for FSSAI Registration Authorities are associated with various Application Stages and related pendency.
