Is Working From Home For Everyone? No.

But it can be rewarding and you can do it if you're determined!

Making a living solely from income generated while working from home isn't easy. But it can be done!

It's hard to find support

Most of your friends and family won't even think that you have a legitimate job. They think you're just sitting in front of your computer or your phone while you stuff your face with candy and chips and binge watch Netflix. If what you do relies on other people doing things (buying, sharing, reading, etc.) don't expect your friends and family to be your main supporters. I have ONE person in my life that consistently supports what I do. One. Others may support me in words but I know they don't read what I write. I'm not whining about it. It's just a fact.

Instead of depending on friends and family, find your tribe online. If you can find one, build one. Facebook groups are great and there's a Vocal group that you can join and find people writing posts that may interest you. You may also find your tribe on Twitter. I know that I have found great people there.

You have to be your own boss

Many people think of being there own boss as meaning that they can decide what they want to do when they want to. They can take a day off, sleep in and work later, take vacations or take a personal day.

But if you're going to be your own boss you have to be tough on yourself, too. Otherwise, very little will get done. Most of us don't like routines but if you're going to get much done, you need to set aside working hours for yourself. Without that, it can be difficult to get much done.

Your boss needs to keep you on task. If you get distracted by housework, playing with the kids, playing your favorite game, or other things, you'll soon be wishing you had a tougher boss. You need to be the tough boss most of the time and the easy boss once in a while.

You have to create your income

Income can come from a variety of sources when you work from home. Writing for yourself and writing for clients. Maybe, like me, you throw a little social media work in there, too. Or some graphic design. You can have as many sources of income as you like but the key is that you need to manage them all and you need to make sure it all gets done.

If you aren't making enough money to take care of your needs, you have to either get more work or increase your prices.

Only you are responsible for income though. It's not like when you work as an employee and you get paid no matter how well the business is doing. When you work for yourself, you only get paid if your business is doing well!

Tips on getting started making a living from home

If you want to live completely off income you generate on your own, start with one income source at a time. You're here on Vocal so why not create an account? Try to find time to write one post per day. Share it where ever your tribe is. Share your knowledge and wisdom with the world because only you can share what you know from your point of view.

Creating the habit of working is one of the best things you can to do prepare for working from home full-time.

Once you've become consistent about writing and posting to Vocal everyday, you might consider adding in another platform, like Medium. That's one of the other sites I write at that generates a income for me.

Think about your talents and knowledge and the ways you can share them. You might start a YouTube channel or a podcast. Perhaps you could create an online course to sell your information to people. You could start your own website and monetize it with Google ads or your could sell your knowledge to other web sites. There are many possibilities.
