The emphasis in design is on creating something new, on finding a share of innovation. That's why it's important to look at this important area when building a career.

When do you have such questions?

What will be the headphones of Ravana's mobile with ten mouths? How to find the surface area of an elephant? Why is the cross-section of okra pentagonal? Why are playing cards rectangular? What problems does the uncle who drives the truck have to face?

So be sure to read this article!

Today's students and youth are consciously watching the changes in our society, politics, industrial world, and environment. The Corona epidemic of 2020 seems to have sharpened all the old ideologies, to keep up the pace of innovation, to keep doing new and sustainable research, otherwise to face serious situations. The statistics released in the last five-seven years also show that the influx of students from traditional education e.g. Engineering, medicine, commerce are declining rapidly. Today's student is moving forward with the desire to do something new and 'stubborn', globalization is also giving them many new options. Many young people want to find new workplaces, start businesses based on their own ideas, start-ups. Creativity is at the heart of any new concept, thought, process, or solution. All in all, it seems that education in the 'creative' field has become a necessity for every student.

Is it possible for everyone to have a career in the creative field?

A few days ago, I got a call from a parent asking me about my 'career in design'. Introducing himself, he said, "My daughter is currently studying 11th Science. She loves to innovate and innovate since childhood. E.g. She makes paper models, paints using a variety of mediums, loves to decorate the house for the occasion, and during the lockout, she did some reading on Indian art and culture. ' I don't want to do that, but I want to do something in a field where her creativity, artistry, and logical thinking process will get the right opportunity. '

Another experience was that last month we organized an online workshop on ‘Design Thinking’ for college students. In the first few minutes, the question was asked, ‘How many of you think you are‘ creative ’?’ Out of 122 children present, only three answered ‘yes’. Later in the same session we did some activities and experiments related to creativity, at the end of the workshop the same question was asked again and 115 children answered 'yes'.

Both of these experiences agree with the findings from psychological experiments and research to date that basically every person is creative. Some would have known it, while others would not have had the opportunity to explore themselves in that field. The scope and depth of one's creativity may be more or less the same, but everyone has the ability to think differently, the ability to innovate, and innate artistic qualities. But day-to-day dealings, inconsistencies at work, environmental conditions, and many other factors do not develop that ability. This means that with the right kind of opportunity, guidance, encouragement, and the right circumstances, everyone can pursue a career in the creative field.

What is creativity?

We often use many terms in everyday life - design, juggling, innovation, ingenuity, innovation - as alternative words. in short, there is a common thread in all of this and that is creativity.

Much research on the subject of creativity has been done by scholars in various fields and it is continuing uninterrupted. There are many arguments and counter-arguments about this. But in the context of this article, we can define creativity in a simple way - creativity is the ability to create innovative, wonderful, and valuable ideas or works of art (see Figure 1). An innovation made by combining all three of these things, be it captivating music, everyday objects, the logo of a company, the design of a hotel, a toy, or a new mobile application.
