It is a fascinating experience to see the landscape change dramatically over a few hours on the Hampta Pass trekking trail. There is no danger on the path, which is matched by the sheer amount of beauty in nature. It can take you off guard with every turn and twist of the trail. It starts with a journey from Manali to Jobra, the starting point for the trek. It is Jobra. From here, the thrilling trek on foot starts.

As promised, it will lead you through the most breathtaking stretches of natural beauty Himachal offers. The vibrant forest of maples, pines, and birches along the route from Jobra towards Chika and the sprawling grasslands that feed the mountain cattle and bright are among the most memorable experiences that the trek offers.

The colorful rhododendrons, as well as the other wildflowers on the way towards Balu ka Ghera, the deep lakes and cliffs which create the path up to Hampta Pass, and finally, the stunning view of Pirpanjal starting from the entrance towards the top of the pass, is the perfect way to end a beautiful journey.

From the highest Point, it is as if the Himalayas are opening up their most esoteric secrets to tourists. The spectacular mountain views, as they glide down the valley of melancholic valleys before reaching into the sky with white snowy peaks reflecting the sun with utmost enthusiasm, is an incredibly worthy reward and well-earned for completing the simple yet exhausting trek.

However, the adventure still needs to be finished. It's a thrilling experience that continues on the trek down towards Shea Goru. You can find the toughest portion of the hike - an uphill climb with narrow and rocky paths.

One last treat to delight the eye and spirit during this hike can be found in Lake Chandratal. It's nestled among the lofty mountains of Pirpanjal, with a height of 4,250 meters. Before this, a thrilling moment with a stream from the mountains is in store for you. Literally.

When you head to Chhatru, the final campsite to stay at, there is a tiny stream near the campsite in Shea Goru that needs to be taken a walk through early in the morning when the river is at its lowest and flows are slow. An easy walk along grasslands and rough paths will lead you to Chhatru, where vehicle access is now restored.

The road trip towards Lake Chandratal is as stunning as the lake itself. The way the crescent-shaped water sparkles to you will depend upon the moment of the day that you go to it.

In the daytime, it reflects the aqua blue in the sky. At dusk, it creates a haze of deep green. At night, it transforms into sparkling in black. You can also have the chance to watch the shepherds of the area grazing their flocks in the rich greens by wildflowers that cover Lake Chandratal.
