After graduating from Stanford, Steinbeck worked as a security guard at a fish farm in Lake Tahoe, California. He was fired shortly after for writing at work. At this time, he met and married his first wife. In order to survive, he started a business of making plaster models. He runs a business and writes at the same time. Although his first novel, The Golden Cup, was published, he did not make writing a career. Because his income from writing is limited, he wants to be a successful businessman.

But Steinbeck was not a business man. He lost money, and if he continued, he would lose even more. This forced him to close down. The failure of starting a business did not dispel his idea of becoming a big boss. Soon, he chose a new entrepreneurial project, which ended in failure again. Several consecutive failures left him destitute. He did not realize that it was his own personal reason for the many failures of his business. He attributed the failure to the influence of the external environment, and he still wanted to make a comeback.

Today, he went to a small restaurant for dinner. Because he had no money, he thought of a way to sell the new idea of starting a business in exchange for a meal. He said that he was a college student, and he analyzed the current situation for the boss, explained the relevant policies, and told the boss how to make the small restaurant bigger and stronger. He speaks righteously, and the boss keeps looking at him, as if very interested. Steinbeck said triumphantly, "If you do what I say, the business will grow bigger and bigger."

The boss said, "Can you be a teacher for me?" Steinbeck blurted out and said, "Of course you can." The boss said, "I mean let you be a teacher for my son." Steinbeck wondered if his son wanted to start a business . The boss said, "My son is also a college graduate. He said almost the same thing as you. He also wants to be a big boss." Steinbeck understood what the boss meant and was ashamed.

Since then, Steinbeck has given up his business to concentrate on writing, and his talent for writing was soon discovered. He later won the Nobel Prize in Literature for his novel The Grapes of Wrath. Recalling his life experience, he said: "Not everyone can be a successful businessman. After many failures in starting a business, I found that I was working hard in the wrong direction. I am fortunate to have found the right direction and put all my energy into writing. success."

Yes, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Zhang Fei is extremely powerful, but he can't pass the thread through the pinhole. Zhuge Liang has no power to tie the chicken, but he can set up an empty city to scare off the three armies. Not everyone is suitable for business, although most people choose to do business when they can't find a job. A lot of work looks ordinary on the surface, but if you want to do it well, you can't do it casually, and it can't be done by just anyone.

Everyone is like a seed. Only when you find the right soil for you, can you have the opportunity to thrive; otherwise, if the position or direction is wrong, all efforts will be in vain. We often attribute failure to external factors, while ignoring the key to the subject. In fact, everyone has their own advantages. As long as you choose the one that suits you, success is only a matter of time. The choice is really important.
