Who doesn't enjoy finding new easy ways to earn money to cover their bills? I sure do since my main income source focuses on my investments. I became a mystery shopper just to test it out, and it turned out pretty well. Mystery shopping is one great way to make some extra cash.

People love it because it gets them out of the house and trying out new restaurants, shops, and experiences. But what if you don’t want to leave the house?

Turns out, you can still get the mystery shopper experience without even having to go anywhere. It’s all done over the phone, and it’s another completely legitimate way to make money right from the comfort of your home. Which nowadays hearing “work from home” is music to our ears.

I know a couple of people who do mystery shopping over the phone and they love it for lots of great reasons. It’s the type of gig that you can schedule around your daily needs, which makes it extremely flexible work for people with disabilities, primary caregivers (for children or elderly parents, for example), students with crazy class schedules, or those who are just extremely busy but want to make some extra cash(which I personally fall into this category).

One of the cool things about mystery shopping over the telephone is that your background noise is actually considered a good thing it makes you appear more “legitimate” and will contribute to the experience that the client is hoping to witness how their employees handle real, everyday interactions with customers. This is definitely something you can do with barking dogs and noisy kids just having fun in the background. I first considered trying this out so my wife can also do it. We have a toddler who loves to run around and play so it’s perfect.

The vast majority (if not all) of the mystery telephone jobs out there will hire you even if you have no work experience at all and won’t do a background check. Their primary concern is whether or not you’ll be able to perform the task at hand, so a lot of the hurdles you’d have to jump through to get other at-home work simply don’t exist. There often are age requirements, though typically you have to be at least 18 years old.

I also noticed that many companies are hiring from countries all over the world, and not just English-speaking ones, either. If you’re bilingual or living someplace fairly exotic, there might be a great opportunity here for you to make some money doing something relatively simple.

The mystery shopper website I currently use is called Confero. You can earn $9-$12 per call that you completed. I personally do not have the free time to make more calls at the moment since I am trying other side hustle ideas like UserTesting, and currently have a full-time job. That is the only reason why I am only earning up to $50 a week. You can definitely earn more if you put in the time and aren’t nervous about making all types of phone calls to different businesses.

If you’re a stay-at-home mom or just a person who wants to work from home with jobs that you can manage, you should consider adding this one into your lineup. Every dollar counts once it’s added up. Don’t think you just need to find that one job that will earn you a decent amount. Why not add two or three together to earn the income you need.
