Ivanka's creepy Donald Trump complex

If you're currently eating anything, I strongly suggest stopping right away since the following few paragraphs will make you sick to your stomach. Some very unsettling allegations that Donald Trump routinely sexualized his daughter Ivanka Trump are made in a new book by former Trump administration official Miles Taylor.

You may recall that in 2018, Taylor initially gained notoriety when he published an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times titled "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration." For a while, many were giddy with anticipation that Anonymous might be a famous person like Melania Trump. As it turned out, Taylor, the chief of staff of the Department of Homeland Security, wasn't a member of Trump's inner circle and wasn't actually "resisting" in any significant way. Since then, he has persisted in trying to get his 15 minutes of fame by warning against democracy and releasing shocking anecdotes about how insane Trump is.

His most recent accusations? Trump was sexist towards his own daughter. The following is an excerpt from Taylor's new book, Blowback: A Warning to Save Democracy from the Next Trump, which Newsweek was able to obtain. "Aides said he talked about Ivanka Trump's breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her," Taylor writes. Taylor claims that Kelly, the White House chief of staff from 2017 to 2019, once had to "remind the president that Ivanka was his daughter" due to his offensive remarks.

I should point out that there is no concrete evidence that Trump uttered any of these things. (At the time this article was written, John Kelly had not responded to the accusations publicly.) But it's not difficult to imagine that the former president had creepy thoughts about his daughter in private. After all, there is a tonne of historical data that shows Trump to be weird towards Ivanka Trump in public. Ivanka Trump "has the best body," he said in 2003, according to Howard Stern. Do you recall his saying that he might be dating Ivanka Trump if she weren't his daughter?

Of course, Ivanka Trump is not the only lady about whom Trump has made a lot of derogatory remarks. Taylor asserts that there are many sexist incidents that haven't hit the press yet, despite the fact that most of Trump's bigotry is well known to the public. "There are still quite a few female leaders from the Trump administration who have held their tongues about the unequal treatment they faced in the administration at best, and the absolutely naked sexism they experienced with the hands of Donald Trump at worst," Taylor said to Newsweek.

I wonder why they resisted speaking up. Could it be that they are fearful that any woman who confronts Trump about his sexism would be met with a brutal new wave of sexism from his supporters? Could it be that they are aware that Trump's use of "naked sexism" has never hurt him; rather, it appears to have boosted his career?Instead of causing Trump to tone down his public misogyny, being convicted guilty of sexual abuse by a jury and ordered to pay Carroll $5 million done the reverse. He strutted onto a very ill-advised CNN town hall the day after the Carroll decision was announced and referred to Carroll as a "whack job" who had lied about the abuse claims. When CNN moderator Kaitlan Collins mentioned that Trump had been convicted guilty of sexual abuse, several audience members genuinely laughed. They chuckled.

Trump supporters obviously don't care about the former president's misogyny, but maybe they do care about the allegations that he sexually assaulted his own daughter. These are the same individuals who have whipped themselves into a moral panic over the hypothetical threat that LGBTQ+ individuals pose to children. These are the same folks that constantly make false accusations about LGBT people being "groomers" without any basis. These are the same folks who want to prohibit books from school libraries because they fear that they would harm their children because of references to race or gender identity. God forbid a book about seahorses that included too many specifics about their mating practises set off these individuals. And yet, they have no issue voting for a man who supposedly fantasises about his daughter and pays porn performers. Demonstrating Republican family values.
