Love Island: Davide and Ekin-Su Cheating Claims

'lay in his hands'

After championing the ITV2 dating programme for barely eleven months, Ekin-Su Cülcülolu and Davide Sanclimenti reportedly called time on their relationship, leaving her "blindedsided" by the decision.

Davide, 27, broke the news of the breakup on Instagram Friday, wishing his ex-girlfriend nothing but the best.

"Ekin-Su and I are no longer together," the Italian star penned.

"I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best. I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time.

"I will continue to support Ekin in any way possible."

Ekin, 28, hasn't spoken out about her breakup, but the reality TV actress appeared to be doing okay yesterday based on a post she made with her family on Instagram stories.

The Turkish actress beamingly reunited with her mother and aunts while on vacation.

through appearing content in the adorable family photo, Ekin-Su is alleged to have been taken by surprise by Davide's Instagram post announcing their divorce after supporting her through several cheating claims.

'Layed in Davide's hands,' according to sources, was the choice of whether or not they would split.

"It's fair to assume that Ekin is devastated by the breakup. She has put a lot of effort into making it work. She has supported Davide despite numerous adultery allegations, so she was taken aback when he decided to chunk it all in,"they claimed.

Since then, the couple has traversed the globe together and shared frequent updates on their romance with their numerous social media followers.

The former couple seemed in love when they attended a movie premiere together in London just a few days ago.

But as things took a turn for the worst during their recent vacation to Amsterdam, things might not have been as perfect as they seemed.

'Some time' ago, according to insiders, Ekin and Davide weren't getting along as well as they would have liked to.

The insider close to the couple said, "They haven't been getting along for quite some time and they really tried to make it work, but in the end, they've decided to call it quits."

It follows Ekin's recent admission that she would think about returning to her native Turkey to further her acting career.

"I would actually love to go back to Turkey at some point and reconnect with some old agencies out there, who I was in a soap with," she said last month.

"I speak both English and Turkish so why can't I have a career in both countries?

"It is a hard industry and I think people always tell you, 'You can't do this, you can't do that,' but you have to keep pushing yourself really. Even when people say no, you have to keep going.

"I definitely wouldn't say no to Turkey."

Despite having a rough romance, they were able to defeat the finalist teams of Luca Bish and Gemma Owen and Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page. Shortly after leaving the villa, they moved in together.

The ups and downs of their Love Island adventure last year, which featured plenty of fireworks and Davide coining an iconic catchphrase by calling Ekin "an actress and a liar" in a heated argument, had viewers spellbound.

However, there were persistent accusations that Davide was having extramarital affairs with models, and Ekin confronted him about one earlier this year, calling his alleged lover a "f***ing slag".

The lady was charged by Ekin in messages published by The Sun on Sunday with "sleeping with my boyfriend" back in April.

After discovering texts from the woman on Davide's phone, Ekin also turned his attention to another Instagram model.

The reality TV personality and Davide were last seen together on the red carpet at the opening of Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.

She joined her Dancing on Ice co-stars at the glitzy party and looked amazing in an eye-catching black dress.

Why did Davide and Ekin Su split?

When it was revealed that Ekin-Su Cülcülolu and Davide Sanclimenti, one of the most well-liked couples in the history of the programme, had broken up, Love Island fans were inconsolable.

The Turkish reality star and the Italian stud announced their breakup on social media on Thursday, less than a year into their relationship.

They first connected on the ITV2 dating programme last year. They quickly won over fans and surged to victory by garnering over two-thirds of the public vote in the grand final in August.

"I am no longer dating Ekin-Su. Davide posted on his Instagram Stories, "I wish her nothing but the best and am thankful for the experiences and memories we enjoyed together.

“I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time, I will continue to support Ekin in any way possible,” he added.

Ekin-Su has yet to comment on the break-up, and the couple - both 28 - were last seen together at the premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

As they mingled with A-list film stars, the reality TV duo appeared very cosy as they wrapped their arms around each other and posed for photos.

Days later Davide announced their year long romance was over for good.

As he thanked Ekin Su 'for the opportunities' many fans accused him of a calculated move.

"The rush to announce something like this when it’s not even done like at the same time for both of them is terrible…" fumed one fan.

"Ekin has not posted anything and he is declaring it already. Normally you would coordinate such announcements. Not impressed by this message 2 days ago she posted a picture together with him.. What happened?" complained another.

There’s much speculation surrounding their split, and relationship expert Annabelle Knight from Spin Genie suggested that their relationship changed once they left the villa.

“Love Island couples break up quickly after the villa because they haven’t come up with a plan for the outside,” she told us.

“When you’re in the villa, you’re only having to juggle that one ball. It’s nice and easy, and stress-free. When you get home, you’ve got all the boring mundane things you have to do as an adult,” Annabelle explained.

She said Ekin-Su and Davide may have realised their “summer romance” had become too serious, and they didn’t know each other well enough to carry on as a couple, enduring months of misery before calling it quits.

“I think these couples have fallen victim to only getting to know their partner on a surface level,” she shared, adding that in order to succeed outside the villa, couples have to communicate and put boundaries in place.

Annabelle used Olivia and Alex Bowen as a good example of having “fundamental” communication skills.

“They sorted out their differences and conflicts in the villa - and that is one of the biggest challenges to go through,” Annabelle, who is speaking on behalf of Spin Genie added.

Dating is “accelerated” while in the villa, as the contestants are geared towards finding a connection and winning the £50,000 cash prize - but it comes at a cost, Annabelle explained.

“They're all starting 10 steps ahead of what they would be if they were on the outside. It’s like a fast track to finding your soulmate because you don’t have to deal with anything else,” she said, calling Love Island “one big date”.

Annabelle praised Olivia and Alex Bowen as being the 'blueprint' for Love Island success in the long-term.

She said the duo, who had stormy rows in the villa, have only been able to succeed as they resolved their tension so early on.

"What I’ve seen over the years is that the couples who have successfully resolved conflict in the villa, do better when they get out. They’ve created this blueprint for themselves, they know what works for them when things get tough.

"If you can figure that out and find your feet when you’re in there, and you learn how you get through conflict together early on, then it doesn’t really matter where the conflict is stemming from - your communication is open with each other and when anything tough comes your way, you will have muscle memory and know how to respond/act.

"I always think of Olivia and Alex as an example. Alex slept with Zara early into getting to know Olivia. That is such a massive hurdle to overcome, but they did it. They sorted out their differences and conflicts in the villa - and that is one of the biggest challenges to go through. It would have been easy for them to throw it all away, but they didn’t.

"They both wanted the same thing and cared massively about each other. They worked hard and put themselves in good stead for the future. If that happened in the real world, there is no chance Olivia would have stuck with him. But because they were in that environment together and forced to sort out their problems, she was patient and he was remorseful. He wanted to make things right.”
