What Is Unemployment?

Unemployment means a situation where skilled and talented people want to do work. But you are not getting the right job for a few reasons.

Above all, seasonal unemployment, low unemployment, and hidden unemployment are the most common unemployment issues found in India.

Reasons for Unemployment

In a country like India, there is a lot of reason for a large section of the population to be unemployed. Among these are population growth, slower economic growth, seasonal settlement, slower economic growth, and falling into the cottage industry.

Moreover, these are the main reasons for unemployment in India. Also, the situation is so tense that highly educated people are ready to do channel work. Besides, the government is not doing its job seriously.

Despite all this, the vast majority of people work in the agricultural sector and the sector provides services only during harvest or planting season.

In addition, the main reason for unemployment in India is the large number of people who need a large number of jobs every year that the government and authorities cannot afford.

Effects of Inaction

If things continue as they are then unemployment will be a major problem. Apart from this, the following events occur in the economy which is an increase in poverty, an increase in crime, exploitation of workers, political instability, mental health, and loss of skills. As a result, all of this will eventually lead to the destruction of the nation.

Action by Government

The government is looking into the problem and is taking steps to gradually reduce unemployment. Some of these programs include IRDP (Integrated Rural Development Program), DPAP (Drought Area Program), Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, Employment Assurance Scheme, NRY (Nehru Rozgar Yojana), Self-Training Training, PMIUPEP Program), job rotation, Employment Guarantee Scheme, organized sector development, small industries and cottages, international employment, and Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana and a few others.

Apart from that, these programs also make the government more flexible, so that jobs can be created in the private sector as well.

In conclusion, we can say that the problem of unemployment in India has reached a critical stage. However, now the government and local authorities have taken this issue seriously and are working to reduce unemployment. Also, to completely solve the unemployment problem we have to deal with the huge unemployment problem of many Indians.

Also, due to rapidly increasing population deserving candidates are not getting enough opportunities to explore them. They are not getting the employment opportunities which can earn them a good lifestyle and also due to lack of employment, it has directly hampered the country's GDP and economic development of the country. It has been now a huge issue in the world.

Solution For the Reduction of Unemployment

Collective efforts directed by the Government as well as citizens towards the following points might help decrease the problem of unemployment in the country.

1. Increased Industrialization – One of the most sure-shot remedies of the unemployment situation in India is rapid industrialization.

2. Emphasis on Vocational and Technical Training – The curriculum pursued in universities should be altered to focus more on practical aspects of learning.

3. Encouraging Self-employment – Self-employment should be encouraged more with the introduction of liability-free loans and government assistance for funding.

4. Improved Infrastructure in Agriculture – Time has come for the entire agricultural infrastructure in the country to undergo a severe overhaul.

5. Inviting Larger Capital Investments – Although India’s economic market is seeing increased investments from overseas (Foreign) investors owing to its cheap labor costs.

6. Focused Policy Implementation – Subsequent policies have focused on issues like poverty and unemployment, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Rajiv Gandhi Swavlamban Rozgar Yojna are examples of the initiatives that the government has undertaken to address the unemployment problem in India.
