A New Chapter

Hi! My name is Cat. I plan to post stories that will either be one-off's or on-going (depending on how my creativity decides to treat me for the week) and the occasional poem. I suppose we could use this as an introduction to who I am as a writer (or, I guess, as a person in general)... Well, there's really not much to say, but... Here we go?

I live in beautiful North Carolina (and moved here from the hot state of Texas), am currently engaged at 24 (soon to be 25 in January), am a proud pet-mom to a sweet kitty named Chai and gentle giant of a dog named Dakota, enjoy casual video games, and have been dabbling in writing various things since I was told I was good at it in 5th grade. Granted, I never really did anything serious with it until I was well into High School... But still. My start was with poems, which eventually evolved into me writing lyrics for songs I wanted to create, and to this day is still something I find myself doing from time to time if I'm in a more musical mood.

But then, one day, I discovered fanfiction.net and let my cringy fangirl side run wild with stories involving my favorite characters from various franchises. That was when I discovered a love for fleshing out characters. A love for building worlds... All with my own words. I continued to write short stories on there for a while before finding myself hyper embarrassed by what I was writing... And so I came to make up my own characters from scratch. My own worlds from scratch. My own STORY from scratch. And honestly? I don't think I ever looked back!

But, as with all good things, I eventually came to a point where I just stopped writing altogether. Maybe it was my depression, or maybe it was just that I had to grow up and choose how I wanted to manage my time most effectively... It's a mystery to me. Now, here I am, ready to delve back into something I used to love so dearly and maybe even re-write a few of my old stories!

So far, my line up for this little venture includes (but is not limited to):

• Re-visiting an old work in progress called "Dragon's Blood"

• Sharing some of my song lyrics

• Re-writing an old short story called "The Broken Arrow"

• Writing at MINIMUM two (2) completely new short stories

After that, we'll just have to see if my creative spark for writing is in full swing or not! Regardless, I hope to have fun while doing this, and for those who decide to join me by reading whatever I have to offer, I sincerely hope you have fun too.

I hope that I am able to entertain those who choose to read them, and I hope to rekindle a lost spark for this hobby. While I can't make any promises, I will strive for uploading something once a week, so please do stick around! And for the record, I will ALWAYS accept criticism of any kind, so long as it's something that I can actively work on or build upon. Please feel free to ask me any questions about any upcoming projects or fun facts you'd like to know about me... I'd love to meet you all and get to know the types of people/communities on this site! Or you could do what I usually do and just lurk...
