If your work is not motivating and just generates a sense of routine and "responsibility," you will most likely not be completing your obligations to the best of your ability. How can you tell whether you've "sat too long" at this place?

Gone are the days when it was common practise to work for one firm for 20-30 years and then retire. Today, changing jobs on a regular basis is a typical and natural occurrence. We are evolving, changing, and continually learning, therefore it's not unexpected that we search for new firms that better meet our demands from time to time. This has a favourable influence on our psychological condition as well. "To achieve a harmonic view and a state of flow, each individual must maintain balance and fulfilment in all aspects of life," says Veronika Khatskevich. - The method is completely unsuitable for one's own mental health: "I'll suffer at work for 6-8 hours, and then I'll be free''. ''This leads to burnout, personality disorders and depression. "

In this sense, being able to recognise when your job is no longer fun and change it is an excellent approach to shield yourself from negative emotions. Here are a few indicators that the work isn't appropriate for you.

You have a lack of motivation and a sense of impotence

This is possibly the earliest and most obvious indicator of job tiredness. "When we're doing 'our' work, we always experience an emotional rush and a surge of power, even when we're tired." "If someone is not doing his own thing, neither money, celebrity, nor success provide him internal power, but rather torment him."

Most of the time, you do your work half-heartedly

"I'll make it so they merely fall behind" - your approach to work implies that you are uninterested in it. "In this situation, your work activity matches unfavourable school topics." Then you only finished your schoolwork if your mother reminded you or forced you to. And not in the greatest possible way - "C grade" is sufficient. A work that is a good fit for a guy instantly inspires effort in him. "He wants to do the best he can," Veronika Khatskevich adds.

When you return from vacation, you want to go back to work as soon as possible

We all become fatigued, especially if we do not vary our activities for an extended period of time. "A vacation was established for this purpose - to travel, rest, and "breathe." If you do everything correctly - you are not distracted by work issues during your vacation, and you do not worry about them permanently - but at the end of your vacation you do not want to return to work at all, or when you return, you almost immediately want to return to silence, calmness, and absence responsibilities, then you should consider changing your occupation," says Veronika Khatskevich. Think about what you enjoy doing, what you are willing to do even for free - perhaps this is the area where your ideal job is hiding.

You don't want to grow in this path

People are inquisitive beings. However, if you are uninterested in the subject of your job, this trait will most likely not appear in you. "If you are not interested in learning anything new, understanding something you did not grasp before, reading or discussing a unique instance in your spare time," Veronika Sysoeva explains. And you don't need to blame everything on laziness and fatigue. “The desire to learn is characteristic of even the laziest person, it’s just more difficult for him to find“ his ”business. And the lack of intrinsic motivation for development, the discovery of new opportunities, are the bells that you are not interested in this work, ”adds Veronika Khatskevich.

You work here because you have no other option, not because you want to

Situations vary, and we agree to some viewpoints based on the circumstances. For example, under pressure from others, financial difficulties owing to inexperience. If you have been hired only for this reason, it may be time to move careers. However, if the conditions that motivated you to relocate here have already altered.

Your labour produces unsatisfactory outcomes

When we are "on fire" with a certain business, we always stand out from the mass of professionals who are doing the same thing. "Such a person is always discovered by clients, who make a job offer, and he is always in excellent standing." Furthermore, everything happens naturally, as if by itself. Others, whatever one may say, who are not engaged in their own firm, do not have similar outcomes," adds Veronika Sysoeva.

You are relieved at the prospect of losing your employment

If you have a second source of income and your main work isn't fulfilling you, but you're afraid to quit, psychologists recommend a simple exercise. “Try the 'What if' method, it's good at weighing different decisions. If the absence of a current job in your life is a relief, not a loss, then this is the best outcome to think about, ”sums up Veronika Khatskevich.

How to avoid conflating this with weariness and burnout

Fatigue and burnout are common causes of work aversion. These states, however, are nonetheless distinct. "Burnout may be remedied fast and simply if you go about your business and don't have any mental diseases in the acute period, such as depression," explains Veronika Sysoeva. - Prolonged sleep, appropriate rest, and commitment to a work and rest schedule will all assist to alleviate the sense of burnout. As a general rule, spending a pleasant weekend and being filled with strength while connecting with loved ones is sufficient.

Workplace dissatisfaction, sadly, is "not curable." Have you discovered three or more of the indications on this list? Perhaps you might think about changing jobs. However, experts do not advocate quitting "nowhere" - it is preferable to have a financial safety net in place (equal to 3-6 of your salaries). However, you may start taking steps in this direction right now: Get an education in the subject you're interested in, establish friends there, and start saving, which will eventually allow you to shift your line of work.
