The creative mind is powerful in that it can generate thousands of ideas at once, and that's only the beginning. Creative people have a knack for putting various elements together to create new and exciting things to present to the world. There is a multitude of different career fields for creatives to choose from where they can use their skills, learn new ones, and produce outstanding material for themselves and others.

Copywriter

The copywriter's role is celebrated in many creative projects. This person is responsible for the written content of any medium one can think of. The commercials on television and radio often have memorable scripts and tag lines; this is the copywriter's doing. As with many writing careers, formal education isn't required, but it can help in developing the skills needed to craft fine copy. Art schools such as Full Sail University offer creative writing programs for those who want to sharpen their skills and get a leg up in their new career.

Tattoo Artist

Tattoos are a unique art form that can tell a story while adorning the wearer's body. Sometimes, a tattoo need not tell a story or have meanings, they can just be there for decoration. As it is with copywriting, tattoo artistry does not require formal education. It does, however, require licensure and basic knowledge of human anatomy since tattoos are permanent and can affect each person differently. An apprenticeship in tattooing can be a big help in both learning the craft and building your portfolio.

Interior Designer

The inside of someone's living space can tell a lot about that person, such as if they love the outdoors, if they prefer city living, or if they love animals. A home's individual ambiance can be the responsibility of an interior designer. The interior designer notes the homeowner's needs, likes and dislikes, and more to give them the perfect home that speaks to them. It's also more than just selecting colors and items—interior designers can use different types of technology to assess the environment they're working in. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is usually needed for this field, but the real fun comes from gaining work experience on the job.

Journalist

Without the hard work of journalists, the world would be in the dark as to what's going on around them. Journalism is a field that is constantly growing and always in need of people who can get the "who, what, where, when, and why" of newsworthy material. Journalists work in print, television, digital, radio, or all four combined. The job also requires travel, so it's a perfect choice for anyone who's got wanderlust and a drive to inform the world of the latest goings-on.

Architect

Just like the interior designer is responsible for the aesthetics of one's living space, the architect is responsible for the design of an entire building altogether. The architect uses a combination of art and mathematics to come up with the world's next greatest building. This field requires formal education with the minimum of a bachelor's degree. Internships, work experience, and the proper certification and licensure should accompany this to guarantee a position in the field. Because architects are necessary to any city's infrastructure, the field is lucrative and in high demand.

Illustrator

Books, posters, magazines, and newspapers all have one thing in common: illustrations. A novel can have a few illustrations throughout the pages or just on its cover, but the overall point is clear: the illustrator, with their artistic vision, can bring life to ordinary creations. It's a versatile field that allows the artist to work in various mediums of their choosing. Illustrators can be self-taught and freelance, or they can opt to go to school and obtain a degree with concentrations on illustration.

Creative careers can seem intimidating for creatives of any stage, but they offer many opportunities and allow for freedom of expression. No matter which path one chooses, the rewards are plentiful in terms of money, skills, and enjoyment.
