1. Googling on the Internet

As a side job, you could use Swagbucks as your search engine and make a lot of money with very little work. If you live in one of the countries where Swagbucks does business, you can use the “Search” tab at the top of the app to get small rewards. I mean small. It’s possible to make more than $10 worth of Amazon gift cards in a year with Swagbucks. Here are some of the other ways you can make money with the site.

Qmee gives you another way to make money from your web search.

2. Online surveys and focus groups.

If you have a few minutes each day and choose the right survey companies, taking online surveys can earn you a lot of extra money over time without a lot of work.

People who read HomeWorkingClub like Prolific a lot more than other survey sites, by a wide margin. That’s because it’s for academic research, not for people to buy. Let’s face it: It may be easy money, but it can be very boring to answer the same 20 questions about insurance, pet food, and utility companies every month for years.

If you have a little more time and have the right skills, you could join a focus group panel like UserInterviews and talk about products more in-depth with other interested people.

3. Testing websites and Apps.

User testing is when you try out a new website design or app and write down your honest thoughts and opinions.

Do you like to test websites and apps? Many companies will pay you to do this work. Developers need to know what you think of their work and how you can help them fix it before it goes live and gets bad reviews.

It’s not the best job for everyone. There is no way to go wrong, but you do need a break. Among other things, you couldn’t do it with kids playing in the background, because you have to record yourself speaking aloud as you work.

4. Micro Working

Micro working is when you do the same online tasks over and over again for a few cents at a time. Even though it doesn’t sound like much money, the jobs are really “micro,” and you could make $12 or more an hour once you get into the groove.

It’s important to sign up for two or three different platforms so that you can find jobs when you want them. These platforms include Clickworker, Appen, and Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. Even though microwork can be very boring, you don’t need any previous experience and you can do it whenever works for you.

There are a lot of people who want to know about data entry, and, yes, it is still a good way to make money on the internet. These days, you’re more likely to find typing and data entry jobs on micro-work sites like Upwork.

5. Typing and transcription.

There are many ways to make extra money online if you can type quickly and accurately. Transcription can be one of the best ways. It involves listening to an audio recording and writing down everything that is said.

I share soon an Ultimate Guide to Work from Home Transcription Jobs hu tells you everything you need to know about this kind of work, as well as gives you advice on how and where to start. Rev is a good place to start if you want to make extra money.

6. Subtitles and closed-captioning are two ways to help people who can’t read.

It might be more interesting and profitable to type subtitles and closed captions after you’ve been transcribing for a while and learned how to type better. Because you need to learn more skills and compete more for jobs, which often go to agencies, it can be hard to get started.

People who work for general agencies, like Rev, can be a good place to start. Also, if you want to work for one of the big streaming services, check out the companies they use to deliver their goods.

As a side job, it isn’t for total beginners. You could do business with companies in the TV and movie industry if you’re willing to pay your dues and put in the work. If you can speak another language, that could be a big help when you’re trying to sell yourself.

7. Make yourself a Scopist

Scoping is a type of transcription that only works with trials, depositions, and other court proceedings. It’s a very specific type of transcription. For work as a scope, you will get an audio recording from a court reporter and a rough draft of the transcript from the same person. There are usually a lot of mistakes in what the transcript says. Your job is to fix them and make them match the recording exactly.

People who work as scopists are usually self-employed and can usually work from home in most places. You must be very good at typing, listening, spelling, and punctuation, and you must be able to focus for a long time.

It could be the job you’ve been looking for if you have worked in a medical or legal setting and know how to use the words and phrases.

8. Proofreading

If you’re good at paying attention to detail, have great grammar, and love to read, then proofreading could be a great side job for you to do from home.

You can earn between $12 and $30 an hour as a professional proofreader, but you’ll need to build up your experience and reputation first before you can charge that much money.

To help you learn more about what it takes, there are lots of courses out there. They can also help you understand some of the more complicated parts.

As a side job, proofreading could be a good option if you want to make some extra money in your spare time. You might want to stick with websites like Upwork or Fiverr.

On the other hand, because there is so much proofreading work, many people make a full-time living even though they started it as a side job.

9. Bookkeeping

Online bookkeeping is a big business because so many people don’t like doing their accounts and are willing to pay someone else to do that part of their business for them because they don’t like it.

It costs a lot of money and time to become good at bookkeeping as a side job, so not many people do it. You can also make money as a side job if your main job is bookkeeping and you want to change careers. This is a great way to make money and build your new career without having to worry too much about money.

10. Translation

You might be able to make extra money by translating for people who don’t speak your language.

Work and pay can vary based on your skills and the languages you work with. If you want to find translation work through an agency, it can be easier. Many translators, on the other hand, work directly with their clients to earn more money. If you want to work as a translator as a side job, check out our guide to the best translation jobs. It tells you about everything from what skills you need to where you can find work.
