Guarding your time and managing it well is crucial to your success. It's not just about getting it all done – it's also about avoiding burnout and having a sense of contentment and accomplishment at the end of the day.

That is why it is indispensable for us to guard and manage our time in the most effective way possible as it can be a crucial factor in determining our success. Because at the end of the day it is not all about getting it all done but also about avoiding burnout and attaining a sense of satisfaction and as well feeling accomplished.

Stephen Richards Covey, an American educator, author, businessman, and keynote speaker aptly said, "The key is in not spending time, but in investing it."

So here we have put together a list of 5 Time Management Tips Every Business Leader Needs to Know to invest their time better.

Have a short to-do list of your top priorities:

What is the most important thing that we have to do today and What is the most important thing that we have to do this week? We should write it down with a pen on paper the most 3 to 5 task which is on top priority and comes to our mind first. Secondly, we should make sure to break down a list on a task basis to do it step-by-step. For each task, we should test the set. Clear deadline and spend about 15 to 30 minutes at the start of the day to attack this list. Once we have completed this set of activity we should physically cross the things which we have completed so as to give ourselves a moment of gratification which will not only. Help us manage the time but will also drive us into doing our next task.

Stop wasting time writing the same emails:

We frequently write the same chunk of text into many emails without realizing that there is a better way we can do it. We can do it by saving much of the time by creating some reusable text blocks. Which can be used later with just a few clicks and with a few edits. All we need to do is just write some text blocks and save them.

Ask clarifying questions at the start of a meeting:

It is no surprise that we spend most of a day in meetings and appointments which barely leaves us with time to do anything else done. Hence we should make it a point to make our meetings more efficient and productive as well as crisp and to the point. It can be done by clarifying the goals and objectives of the meeting beforehand and asking some basic questions to keep us on track before the meeting such as: What are we looking to achieve? Agreement? Brainstorming? A list of action items?

Book all of your meetings back-to-back:

We should always look out for the possibility of setting up meetings back-to-back so that the time is left in one big solid chunk. Because for most of us it is difficult to really concentrate on something when we are looking forward to our next meeting. Going to this we are more likely to not be able to do our best work. If we are made to be constantly engaged in meetings one after the other. This will leave us with really no time in our hands to get into a good groove. Moreover, you should never adapt or compromise for someone else's time to be saved by putting up precious time for them.

Be flexible:

Finally, we should be flexible in our approach and should be able as well as willing to work long hours. No doubt by effective time management we can reduce the which are spend on unproductive activities or tasks which we could have delegated to our team members. But we should do acknowledge that there is no substitute for the 10-, 12- or 14-hour workday. As a business leader, we should be wary, not to burn our self out. But also there will be times when our business will demand constant attention for its nurturing and growth. Which we should be able to provide by being the first one to be in and the last to leave.
