The Things That Can Be Most Difficult

So you want to start a YouTube channel? It's a very rewarding experience. You can get a great sense of achievement and have a great amount of fun along the way. The one thing to keep in mind is a lot of work goes into it, so be prepared. Here are five things that you need to know before you start.

5. Editing can take a long time.

As you develop through your channel, your editing skills will improve so you may take a lot of time editing hours of footage down to around 15 minutes or so. This can sometimes be very frustrating but in the end it will be well worth it. This is not the case for everyone as some people choose to have their videos uncut.

4. Hate comments/Troll comments will happen.

This is an unavoidable thing that all youtubers get. No matter how big or small your channel is you must be ready to receive these comments. Sometimes they can be things like "Your content sucks, you should quit" to even more extreme. There is no way to stop it from happening so as a piece of advice I would say prepare to hear the worsted thing you can think of and if you prepare for that it may help soften the blow of anything else that is said.

3. Growth takes time.

Unless you are the luckiest person ever and the first video you post goes instantly viral, you need to be ready for a long slow journey. For a lot of the big youtubers it was years until they started to build a very big audience. Most youtubers say that the first 100 subscribers is the hardest. As long as you are dedicated and willing to persevere you may reach your goal, but it will definitely take time.

2. Thumbnails and titles are just as important as the video.

Of course videos are very important, but the thumbnail and title are what are going to attract people to your video. The main thing to remember is to make them relate to your video while also making them attractive. Some youtubers have publicly stated that they have had videos where people have commented saying the video was brilliant but the views were less than others with better thumbnails and titles.

1. Time Management

As was stated earlier in this, sometimes editing can take hours, even days, so it can affect your personal life. It is very important to keep a healthy balance between your personal life and your time on YouTube. This is especially important if you are planning to post multiple videos a week. Focusing on nothing but YouTube can greatly affect your social life, family life, and more so try to make sure you make time for both.

This article was made to prepare those who wish to start YouTube and not to dissuade anyone from doing it. YouTube is a great place to express yourself, pursue a dream, or even just have fun. If you are thinking of doing it, I strongly recommend it. Thank you for reading this article and I wish you the best of luck with your future.
