CCTV or closed circuit TV has become an imperative part of doing business and if you have been tossing around the idea of installing it at your premises, then have a read of our top 5 reasons why you should.

With the modern need to monitor the day to day goings on in case of crime or lawsuits, the CCTV has become part of most businesses. Clients installing CCTV’s have hailed from all industries of late because the humble CCTV has much to offer every business.

1. They are a Deterrent

CCTV’s located strategically around your business have been known to be a massive deterrent to criminal activity. People tend not to risk being recorded if they can help it, so if you can signpost your property and place the cameras in areas that are easy to spot, it will deter many would be thieves.

Having a camera monitoring cash transactions can also discourage staff theft, which is one of the most common thefts in business.

2. Price Point

No matter what your budget, there is a CCTV to suit it. Whether you are installing a professional security grade setup or you have just picked up the bits on eBay to self-install, you are going to be able to get something up and running within your budget. The difference of course being coverage and picture quality.

Your small DIY CCTV kit from eBay which start around $299 is not going to be a crystal-clear picture but will give you a good idea about what is going on. If you can afford it and you want to be able to make out number plates and facial features, then you need to get one of the professional setups from ELA Security in Perth.

3. Remote Viewing/ Viewing later

With CCTV, you don’t have to be close by to be able to view the footage. You can view in real time or you can review the recordings later. This is especially good for businesses who need to keep an eye on certain areas of their business including employees. Also, great for presenting evidence of a vandalism or break in the CCTV recording can be given to law enforcement to help them catch the person responsible.

Some people even use these systems to keep an eye on their pets while they are at work.

4. Coverage

In the movies, you see actors and actresses infiltrating premises by ‘avoiding’ the security cameras. With a professional setup that won’t happen because the cameras are set up in such a way that there are no blind spots. A person would have to cross the vision of at least one camera to gain access to your premises.

The DIY setup systems must be placed correctly to ensure there are no blind spots. We do recommend you get a professional system if you are going to install a CCTV.

5. Employee and Customer disputes

The dreaded employee or customer disputes can be resolved much easier if there is footage of the incident. If an employee accuses another of inappropriate conduct, then the footage for that area and time can be brought up and viewed. This is a great way to find out what happened so you can take care of the situation before it escalates.

Also, equally as good for customer complaints. Say customer A claims they slipped and fell on your slippery floor, confirming the accident is as easy as locating date and time and which area the incident allegedly happened on, and you have instant idea of what happened and this will give you a better case if there is legal proceedings.

So, if this hasn’t convinced you to go ahead and get a CCTV system for your business then I don’t know what will. If you abide by the laws in your state there should be no reason why you can’t install CCTV cameras in your business premises.
