Easy Ways to Make Money

Earning money while you sleep sounds like a dream to most. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts to getting rich overnight (no lottery or jail involved!), but these passive income ideas combined with a little online or digital marketing magic are definitely the way to go.

Passive income is essentially a steady source of additional income that doesn't require you to work a set number of regular hours. The key is in the low-maintenance side scrambles that sell multiple times each.

What Is Passive Income?

Often referred to as passive income, the term is a bit of a misconception. Yes, you can earn money while you sleep, but it's not as easy as set it and forget it. It takes planning and systems to make money without doing anything.

Essentially, passive income is making money on something after the initial investment of time or money. For example, if you buy stocks, they may make (or lose) money after you make the purchase (money investment). Or, if you write a hit song, you can continue to earn money every time that song is played. You spent time writing it once and it continues to pay off.

Although passive income involves an initial investment of time and/or money, and a little bit of marketing strategies. Once you've created it, it can be maintained with minimal effort. If you want to build a business that works even when it's not, here are some ideas.

1. Sell stock content & Earn Royalties:

Websites, advertisers, self-publishers and app creators need secondary content, from images to music, videos and sound effects. If you spend your free time photographing, drawing or singing anyway, this might be the path for you.

Royalties are more associated with books and music and are essentially percentages earned on sales. For example, if you write a book, a publisher may offer to publish it and will pay you royalties (a percentage of the sale) for each book sold. Of all the passive income options, this is the hardest to achieve.

First, it's hard to convince a publisher or other business to buy and sell your creative work. Also, the amount you earn per sale is usually very low; maybe a few cents on a $50 sale. Finally, at least in book publishing, royalties are usually only paid out every six months and only if you've earned more than any advance you might have received. A deposit is like a loan and must be repaid before you start receiving payment.

You don't have to be a pro to be successful at selling stock content – niche ideas are just as in demand as flawless execution. Think photos, logos, jingles, stickers, icons, buttons, banners and tweets. The sky is the limit!

Brands are always looking for content that helps sell their product, so you also need to consider who you are targeting with your content.

2. Blogging:

Blogs can be one of the more laborious ongoing ideas on this list, however, they can still be created and managed on a part-time basis. The best passive income blogs offer much-requested and compelling information.

The secret to successful blogging, aside from regular quality content, is marketing to increase readership. For more passive efforts, you can use SEO so search engines can help send you traffic. However, it's nice to have a variety of other marketing options, many of which can involve systems and automation, like email marketing and social media.

3. Write an ebook:

Creating e-books, and online courses are one of the best ways to make money while you sleep. Although they are time-consuming to create, once you have created them and set up the system to sell them (i.e. website or Amazon) all that is left to do is marketing.

Like a mailing list, the system does everything automatically. The system takes the order, processes payment, and delivers the digital product. You can even create an affiliate program, so you can have a team of people selling for you, doubling your efforts and increasing your marketing reach exponentially. If you use a service like ClickBank to run your affiliate program, you don't even have to pay affiliate checks. Clickbank will do this for you.

But like all online income options, success in making information products only comes from having a product that people want or need, and marketing to drive sales.

4. Affiliate Marketing:

Another way to start earning passive income is to promote someone else's products or services and earn a commission on the sales. If you already have a website or social media, this could be a great opportunity to earn some extra money. Let's see how it works.

This works well if you have a site, store, or social account that already has traffic, and the products you are linking to link to your existing posts.

Post reviews of everything you buy online on your blog and include “buy now” links. Or add a page for a "bookstore" that displays your favourite titles and why you review them.

Good reviews are relevant and tend to include relevant details about what you liked about the product and why it was worth buying. It should be longer than a single paragraph, but not so long that you lose your reader in sales jargon.

5. Print on Demand:

From t-shirts to baby bibs, there are dozens of stores selling customizable gear and gadgets - the opportunity lies in selling your inspiration to other customers.

One of the most well-known marketplaces is CafePress, which sells just about anything with a blank surface. Whoever you are talking to, create a seller account (to sell via the store) or a store account (to sell from your own site).

Upload your best illustrations, photos or jokes and choose the products that can be personalized with your art. If someone buys an item from your line, you get a share of the sale, without having to manufacture, store or ship anything.

You don't even need your own ideas. If you're short on inspiration, you can list other people's custom products for a referral fee.

Choose cute or funny images, logos and quotes that work across multiple products. The simpler, the better.

It's also a good idea to take photos of your creations and promote them on social media. Ask your friend to wear a t-shirt with this hilarious quote you found and share it with your followers.
