Are you serious about writing on Vocal? If so, you will need to find your writing voice and then find the time to write on a consistent basis. Your audience is waiting for you!

Do you like writing in a distraction free environment or do you prefer background noise? Are you a morning person or do you work best at night? All these questions are important to find your own personal writing path.

It's best practice to create a plan and work your plan so that you can avoid the writer's block. We all have been dumbfounded and can't seem to think of anything to write about. Here is a example of my simple writing plan I copied from a successful writer over on Medium.

  1. On Sunday plan your writing prompts for the whole week. If you choose this strategy you will save a lot of time. Of course, you don't have to choose Sunday, but choose a day of your choice.
  2. Do you want to write one post a day, or do you want to write 3 posts a week? Sometime quality overrides quantity, but not always.
  3. Use a post-scheduler for those days that you are unable to write due to unforeseen circumstances. Consistency is important while building your audience.

Building an Audience

Vocal offers so many choices for you to write about almost anything. New writers often complain "they don't know what to write about", but if you will scan Vocal's homepage you can easily find something of interest for you to write about and build a strong audience.

Once you start building your audience on Vocal, you can use social media sites like Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and many others to increase your reads.

Invest in your craft, if you're serious about finding your writing path. Why not invest in writing classes, join writing Facebook groups and connect with her writers who have the same goal in mind as you do?

I belong to the Ninja Writer's Club where there are over 300 members and everyone has access to "slack" channels, a writing coach and a passionate supportive community. It only cost $25 a month for the membership. Here is the link if you're interested...www.ninja-writers.teachable.com

Tools for Writing

Vocal is a simple platform. It was created in 2016 and growing rapidly. It's easier for most people to write directly on the vocal platform and upload quality images from unsplash. However, you do have other options. Sometimes I write my article in Google Drive and copy and paste, because I like the research features Drive offers.

Hemmingway app is a great tool to help your writing become concise and grammatically correct.

Prowriting Aid is another great spell check tool as well as finding sentences that are written in the past tense versus the present tense.

Even though you can write directly onto the vocal platform, you may be like me and write your articles with pen and paper first. Using the pen an paper method, I seem to be able to be more creative and able to tap into the flow faster. Everyone of us is different with what works for us. You know?

If your goal is to write on Vocal and make some extra money for your efforts, then I would suggest you purchase this ebook (bloggingguide.com) written by Casey Botticello. It's available on Gumroad for $10. In his book you will learn about how vocal pays writers, via reads, tips and comments. The author explains the value of investing in Vocal Pro.
