20 Honest Ways to Make Money Online (Income Included)

Without Doing Surveys.

The most frustrating thing is opening an article to find helpful information, and instead reading about some online surveys you can do, or an app you should try for a few cents. I mean, sure you can make a few bucks here and there, but not real, pay-the-bills type of money. You know? The kind that will fund your travels, pay for daycare, or just give you a work from home option.

After months of reading the same type of articles, I decided to do some research into legitimate mobile careers. And to save you the time and frustration, I have compiled a list of honest work-from-home (or anywhere) jobs. They may not get you rich fast, and some may require schooling, but they are real ways to make an income from your computer. Let's get into it.

1. Virtual Assistant

Many companies and brands are now hiring virtual assistants. This is good for you if you are a very organized person, can multitask, and like to plan things out. Tasks typically include scheduling, replying to emails, entering data, keeping up with social media, and any other tasks the boss doesn't have time for.

Typically pays $15/hour or more.

2. Transcriptionist

Transcription typically involves you listening to audio files and typing out what you hear. Companies usually hire transcriptionists without a lot of prior experience, lots of job postings only require you to have a computer and keyboard to get started. Transcription tasks can vary from transcribing a college lecture to a doctor's medical dictation. Also, most companies allow you to make your own schedule.

Typically pays $25/hour or more.

3. English Teacher

So many people are beginning to realize that teaching English online is a legitimate way to make money. With companies like VIPkid and GoFluent, it's very possible you could land a teaching job from your couch (or AirBnb in Paris). Some require a degree, most don't. Do your research and choose a company that allows you to make your own schedule to maximize travel benefits. ;)

Typically pays $15 to 20/hour.

4. Telephone Nurse

Obviously, for this one you are required to have a degree. But if that's something you already have, or are interested in, then this could be a great gig for you! Insurance companies and health organizations often have a nurse ready to answer any questions any clients may have. Some companies that hire nurses for this reason include Humana, Aetna, and UnitedHealth Group. Look into it if you're interested in spending a few hours on the phone, and the rest on the beach!

Typically pays $50,000 annually.

5. Blogging

Seems like every second person you meet these days is a blogger, but it really is a great way to make money (I can speak for this!). You have to be committed and prepared for it to take time to grow though. Blogs are difficult to build, and it can be quite pricey. While it's not necessarily easy, if you grow it into a large following you can make quite a bit of money off it. There are several ways to make money off your blog, such as side ads, working with companies to promote their products (affiliate links), email marketing, and many more!

Salaries for bloggers vary widely. Glassdoor reports $19,000 to $79,000 is the average annual income.

6. Independent Accountant

There is big money in accounting. If you have an accounting degree/diploma and enjoy working with numbers, then this is for you. Almost all companies prefer to outsource their accounting—this is where you come in. Companies will hire someone to handle to their books, and as long it's done on time, most don't care where you are working from. Bring your laptop to the Maldives if you want, you can still make great money!

7. Customer Service Rep

Good with people? Can you work simultaneously on the phone and computer? Tons of companies are outsourcing their customer service reps. Duties include answering client calls, questions, and concerns. You may need to edit their client information, help them solve a problem, or deal with their rants about the products. Either way, it's a valid way to make money while on the go, you can pick up the phone anywhere in the world.

Typically pays $10 to 18/hour.

8. Graphic Designer

If you are a highly creative person, and don't want a 9-to-5, then this is for you. Graphic design is a huge market right now, and pays as such. If you have a knack for design and detail, consider going into graphic design.

While it will take a while to grow up a large enough following to make it your full-time gig, tons of people have done it—so you can too! Don't mistake it as no work though, creating content 24/7 requires a creative brain and passion for photography/modeling (if not both!). Most trips are work trips, and having thousands of eyes on you can be stressful!

Typically pays $500 to 2,000 per sponsored post. Yup.

10. Travel Agent

Nope, not talking about the popular MLMs floating around. You can actually sign with an agency and use their booking systems if you want to work from home, although likely they will want to see if you have good numbers already. Of course, doing this through an MLM may be easier and cheaper if you're just starting out. But you'll earn a lot less commission per sale. If you love to travel and are a passionate salesmen (or saleswomen), then this may be for you!

11. Website Designer

You can teach yourself this very valuable skill. Google, YouTube, or a friend can easily teach you how to create websites, and in turn you can post your skill on sites like Fiverr. Social media is the number one way to make sales today. So, obviously, companies want their social medias up to date and effective. However, many CEOs know it's not their speciality, and pass it on to someone younger who knows their way around each platform perfectly. Someone who understands their audience. That person could be you! If you know your way around Twitter and Instagram, then post your skills on a site like Fiverr or Upwork, and see if anyone needs your help!

SO many people in today's age have made YouTube—or now for streaming gamers, Twitch—their full-time job. Choose a niche that you're passionate about, purchase a video camera, and you're set. Make sure to commit time to editing your videos though, as viewers love clear and creative editing. Some of the most popular video niches today are fashion/lifestyle, what I eat in a day, fitness routines, music videos, "How I quit my job and moved to ____," and many more!

YouTubers charge brands anywhere from $10 to $50 per 1,000 views. If the video hits 1 million views, then the YouTuber makes anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000.

Crazy right?! Just think, there are 11 year olds that are making millions from Youtube. If they can- you can!

14. Network Marketing (MLMs)

MLMs often get a bad rep, but the truth is some of them can offer good compensation plans, and if you're passionate about the product, then why not make a few extra bucks? Some even move their way up the ranks and turn it into a full-time job! Some popular MLMs today include Rodan and Fields, Young Living Essential Oils, Avon, DoTerra, Scentsy, Mary Kay, Beach Body, Younique, and many more.

Inc.com found that the average MLM sales rep makes about $2,400 per year selling products. Not much, but it's an extra $200 per month that could take care of groceries or car insurance.

15. Selling on Etsy

Etsy is a great resource for those that love to make and sell their own products. While the company does take a small fee to list your products, they also take away the hassle of trying to run your own site. If you make crafts, jewelry, clothes, or desserts, and want to make some extra cash, consider selling them on Etsy!

Sales depend on product and niche, and one's own marketing efforts.

16. Writing and Selling eBooks

Love to write? You could be making money off your stories! Both fictional and non-fictional stories, as well as How-To eBooks, sell really well online. It's a great source of passive income, but does require a lot of time and effort. You can sell your eBook through Amazon Kindle or Apple iTunes. Either way, you'll have good access to many digital readers.

Sales with eBooks depend heavily on marketing and reviews.

17. Gigs on Fiverr

Sign up for Fiverr and list what odd jobs you're willing to do. For example, lots of millennials find social media management work on Fiverr that someone or some company needs done. Salary dependent on gig.

Not 100 percent online, however once it starts to book consistently, you can take care of the bookings from your laptop and hire cleaners. ;)If you live in a popular area, you could be making serious bank off your house! Clean it up, take some high quality photos, post it, and see if you get any hits. Make sure to check the comps of other postings nearby to see what your area is worth.

Lots of AirBnb owners rent out their house and travel for the winter—sounds like a good gig to me!

Some hosts make more than $10,000 per month, while others make less than $500. Area and quality of home make all the difference.
