The Royal Family

The Royal Family....for years people from many countries have been fascinated by the House of Windsor. This family has money, royal lineage, power, history, royal jewels, and commoners who have watched and worshipped them as gods. From the outside looking in, they are the people who fairy tales were written about. They lived those lives and created those stories.

When I was growing up in Georgia, I remember the story of Prince Charles and Princess Diana falling in love. They had the romance and marriage that all young girls dream about having one day. Princess Diana had a beautiful wedding gown and walked down the aisle to marry her prince. She had the life that all of us dream about having one day. After their wedding day, her beauty never faded on screen. However, the beauty of her marriage did. Prince Charles always appeared cold and heartless toward her and seemed that he never cared for her. The more this fairy tale couple appeared together in the news, the more realistic their marriage became in the eyes of the public. Princess Diana even though she was always a beautiful person seemed incredibly lonely and sad. Her husband gave the appearance that he could care less about his wife and her needs. One day information was reported in the newspapers about Prince Charles and his lover, Camilla. All this time this man was devoted to another woman and the princess was not the woman he loved and cherished. After many miserable years together but separated, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were finally granted a divorce. However, I do not think she ever found the love that she had searched for and deserved in her life. Then tragedy struck the royal family.

After Princess Diana's tragic and sudden death, William and Harry had to grow up without their mother. Prince Charles was a single father raising two sons in a monarchy with enormous responsibilities. For the first time, his story of how his mother and the queen mother had manipulated his love life with Camilla came to light. They arranged her marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles and had Prince Charles sent away to the British Navy to try and separate the two of them. It was a plan with a devastating outcome that hurt several people and destroyed two marriages. How could anyone including royalty play with people's lives like that? Did they not consider the consequences of their actions?

Prince Charles became the father that Princess Diana wanted him to be all along. He put the needs of his sons first and protected them the way she would have protected them. Her death while tragic brought the family closer together. Queen Elizabeth was remarkably close to her grandsons and wanted what was best for them as they grew into young men. Tradition took a back seat in British Parliament and with the monarchy, and finally Prince Charles was granted permission to marry the woman he had fallen in love with so many years ago.

Honestly, I was and am still not a fan of Camilla. However, I do feel for all the people that were involved in this terrible misjustice of manipulation of love. Too many people have been affected by the monarchy’s judgement of who was good enough or not good enough to wear the crown. I can only imagine being madly in love with someone and having your parents tell you that you could not marry them and had to marry someone else. It still did not give Prince Charles the right to marry Princess Diana and grossly mistreat her. Maybe he did try to love her or maybe he just could not make himself love her when he was in love with someone else.

Prince William was growing into a handsome young man and had fallen in love with a beautiful young woman named Kate Middleton. Their love story was beautiful because Prince William played a video tape from the late Princess Diana, so it seems like her advice on love and romance moves on to her son and that she is advising him from the grave. Then Prince William proposes to Kate using Princess Diana’s sapphire ring that was given to her by Prince Charles. Since their wedding, Prince William and Princess Kate have restored the vision of the monarchy and brought strength and stability back to the family.

Prince Harry waited longer to marry than his brother. He was with several beautiful young ladies before he met the American actress, Meghan Markle. When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were together their happiness radiated for the entire world to see. Their love and happiness were romantic and encouraged single people everywhere that there was hope in finding their soulmate. When Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle it seemed like the royal family was finally complete. I am sure that Princess Diana was smiling down on them from heaven above, happy that both of her sons had found the love that she had so desired to find for herself.

After their marriage there was conspiracy and truth that the royal family did not want the public to know about their family. It was hard to determine the driving factor of why these facts were coming out now about the royal family. The family had tried for years to keeps things private and to put forth an image of stability and solid foundation that at times it was hard for the family to present as a united front. Prince Harry and Meghan had stepped back from their responsibilities in England and moved to America. Prince William and Prince Harry had been at odds with one another, and Meghan did not accompany him often on trips to England. Prince Harry and Meghan had an interview with Oprah Winfrey that opened more cans of worms for the royal family. Then Prince Harry wrote a “tell all book” with facts about himself and the royal family.

The bond between Prince Harry and Meghan and their royal family may never be mended. However, fate has taken over and their money situation is not working out for them in California like they had planned. I am not sure that Prince Harry was ever really happy moving so far away from his family. I think trying to live a life that is not his may have put some strain on his marriage. I hope that he and Meghan will move back to England and be able to work through their issues with their family. After all, these boys have Princess Diana's blood running in their veins. They are strong and determined but also compassionate and loving. Prince William and Prince Harry remember how their mother suffered and how she felt to be an outsider in the family. Hopefully, this feeling will draw them all back in together and help them forgive each other and move past what happened before.

I would like to see Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince Harry and Princess Meghan and their beautiful children live the happily ever after that they rest of us have chased after our entire lives…….
