Mariann: : Really , Thank you for the honor 🙂 Where are you from?

Joe : I’m from Greensboro North Carolina. I grew up in both Chapel Hill and Greensboro. Lived with my mother for most of my childhood and ended up living with my dad as a teenager.

Mariann: We have the same time ,Eastern time great . What days are best for you?

Joe: Anytime between 5 and 7 Monday through Thursday. And anytime on Saturday or Sunday.

Mariann: What do you like to write(literary genres)about?

Joe: Hi Mariann I’ll be getting off shortly and ready to answer all.

Joe: I love to write some of almost everything: fiction, non-fiction, short stories, scripts, poetry, music, analysis articles.

Mariann: How long does it take you to write a stories?

Joe: It depends on what I am writing. If I’m writing a short story I like to give it a couple days, poetry can be done within an hour, given my musical talent because I love to rap, articles are written over the course of a day, scripts take weeks.

Mariann: You are a rapper, that’s so cool 😎

What do you rap about?

Joe: I love to rap about meaningful things like social commentary, personal struggles, dealing with day to day life and just telling stories.

My top favorite rappers are people like Ice Cube, Tupac and DMX.

Mariann: When did you realize you wanted to write?

Joe: When I was in college. I did a lot of reading and writing growing up because these were some of my mother’s biggest hobbies she was my biggest inspiration for wanting to be a writer. Plus I love being a storyteller.

Mariann: What’s the first story you wrote? What was it about?

Joe: The first real story I ever wrote was a screenplay for my screenwriting class at UNC-Greensboro called “Biscuits and Blood” it was a fictional story about my then job Bojangles the restaurant being taken over by a gunman for a day.

Mariann : What course did you take in College?

Joe: Screenwriting and media writing. I earned my associates degree in arts at Guilford technical community college in Jamestown North Carolina before I transferred to University of North Carolina in Greensboro to major in media studies.

Mariann: What your writing space look like?

Mariann: Take your time 😊

Joe: I love the writing space question because I actually don’t have one. I just pull out my phone or laptop anywhere and everywhere and just start writing.

Mariann: What’s the best word to describe you?

Joe: I think the best word to describe me is weird

Mariann: If you can change the world, what will you change?

Joe: If I could change anything in the world it would be for everyone to see with their hearts instead of their eyes.

Mariann: What’s your goal in your writing?

Joe: My goal as a writer would be to make written works that really impact the lives others and to tell stories that resonate with people the same way my favorite writers tell stories that resonate with me.

Mariann: What are your most proud of accomplishment?

Joe: The accomplishments that I am most proud of are earning my associates degree because my education was important to my mother before she died and being an writer because it’s what I love and it’s what she love.

Mariann : Who is your favorite Vocal writer ? What vocal Facebook group you hang out the most at?

Joe: My top favorite vocal writers are Tiffany Gordon, Heather Hubler and Madoka Mori among so many others.

I hang out at Vocal + Assist the most.

Mariann: You seem to have wisdom beyond your age, When was your Birthday?

Joe: My birthday is February 5th 1993

Mariann : If you were a book what title you give yourself and why?

Joe: If I was a book I just imagine my title would be “Average Joe”.

Mariann: What your real life schedule look like , how do you fit your writing in it?

Joe : My real life schedule consist of a lot of work, church, writing in the small gaps of time that I have and spending as much time with family and friends that I can.
