Chapter One

“Just your average human being in a not so average world”

All anyone wants to do in life is to fit in, but for some it is impossible to do so. Imagine a short, stocky redhead and immediately one would not assume that they fit in, well that would be Miranda Henderson. She was a believer, the type of person who believed in the unexplainable. If something did not make any sense then she would spend day in and day out to make it make sense.

Every town has its secrets, some juicier than others especially in the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania. Centralia is one of those towns where no one ever leaves unless it is through a body bag. It is a town that was built on top of a coal mine, like that was a good idea, and it was bound to cause problems sooner or later. In the early 1960s, things were difficult for this small mining town, especially when the bone headed men decided that to clean up the landfill by setting fire to it. On what planet is that a good idea? Well, I guess in their defense that had no idea that there was a mine directly under the town.

Fast forward another sixty years and not much has changed. The town has absolutely nothing, no people and not even bugs. It is a perfect place for someone hide their secrets and boy did they do just that.

While there are no people in the town of Centralia, there are freeloaders and their names are Miranda Henderson, Erin Dinny and Susan Dinny. The three of them did not have it easy growing up, all losing their parents to an overdose eleven years ago. With all of this heartache and being forced to live on their own, they all made a pact to never leave each other and part of that is the reason why Miranda and Erin decided to go to University of Pennsylvania.

The date is February 15th, 2020 and the town is duller than ever, but something seems off. All over the town the girls noticed dead, tore up animals along with pools of blood and seeing how they were living in a ghost town, literally, it just seemed odd.

“What in the world is going on, this makes five”, Miranda pointed towards the lifeless mountain lion. She looked all over the body and noticed claw marks and thought to herself that there is no way another animal would do this at least not this bad, there were dead cartages of all different types of animals laying around this deserted town.

“These are claw marks not gunshot wounds, what kind of animal would do this to another animal it’s so cruel”, Erin has always been the squeamish type, so it is safe to say that all of this is not going to end well for her and her stomach.

Yes, they were born in this town when all of their parents were just passing through, but they spent a few years just outside the town in Ashland and they have heard many rumors of furry creatures that can walk on their hind legs that roam through Centralia, though they never seen anything.

“Do you think it is…”

“No, werewolves do not exist, you are just grasping for straws”, Erin interrupted her cousin Susan before she could finish her sentence. Some would say that the three are going insane but living in a ghost town for ten plus years can do that to you.

Many of the rumors suggested that the wolves would come here every full moon to “transform” but of course there is no proof, there never is.
