Jokes and games with death have always been considered masculine. Find out how the five famous experiments with the other world ended — well, whether to believe it or not, decide for yourself:

1. The phenomenon of electronic voice

This is the name of the spontaneous and difficult-to-explain appearance of mysterious noises and sounds resembling a human voice on recording equipment. A paranormal explanation of this phenomenon has become widespread (for example, as a connection with the dead).

Friedrich Jurgenson

For the first time, Swedish film producer Friedrich Jurgenson suggested the existence of this phenomenon. In 1959, he recorded the voices of birds on tape. Nothing unusual happened during the recording, but when Jurgenson listened to the recordings, in addition to the voices of birds, he found an extraneous male voice in Norwegian on the tape.

Jurgenson was sure that there were no people around during the recording, and therefore decided that the tape recorder accidentally recorded the transmission of one of the Norwegian radio stations. Jurgenson understood Norwegian and realized that the voice on the recording was talking about bird voices. After making inquiries, he found out that on the day when he made the recording, none of the Norwegian stations broadcast broadcasts of such content. Then Jurgenson began to conduct experiments to study this phenomenon. Soon, according to him, he even managed to allegedly establish a connection with his late mother.

2. Experiment with changing the weight of a deceased person (“the weight of the soul”)

Dr. Duncan McDougall

Dr. Duncan McDougall from the American city of Haverhill (Massachusetts) in 1906 conducted a number of interesting experiments to study changes in body weight at the time of death. He proceeded from the assumption that the human soul has weight, and that when it leaves the body at the moment of death, the weight of the physical body should decrease.

The difference in body weight before death and after death, according to the researcher, gives the value of the weight of the soul itself. In all cases, Dr. McDougall registered various weight loss — from 12 to 45 grams.

At the same time, he performed similar measurements with deceased dogs. In the case of quadrupeds, such a difference in weight before and after death was not observed. This gave the doctor a reason to claim that people have their own special astral bodies and their weights are different.

3. God’s Helmet

Michael Persinger

This unusual helmet, converted from an ordinary motorcycle helmet, was invented by Canadian Michael Persinger. When the subject was put on his head, he was exposed to powerful electromagnetic fields. According to Persinger, wearing the “helmet of God”, people can feel the presence of divine forces and long-dead relatives. In his report, he noted that the volunteers exposed to the helmet experienced feelings that they described as supernatural, divine, and even saw themselves as prophets.

4. Experiment with Philip’s ghost

In the early 1970s, a group of Canadian scientists from the Toronto Society for Psychological Research tried to find out whether a fictional historical character could come into spiritual contact with a group of researchers.

The fictional ghost’s name was Philip. A historical “legend” was invented for him, and even a fictional portrait of a “hero” was drawn. 8 members of the research group carefully studied the historical period when Philip supposedly lived.

Until 1973, attempts to get at least some kind of signal from the spirit were in vain. The first time he showed himself through a strong knock on the table. After a few months, with the help of one blow (“ yes and two blows (“ no scientists could already communicate with the spirit, getting answers to their questions. But as soon as one of their astonished experimenters once said: “But we invented you, Philip!”, the connection with the other world immediately stopped.

5. Ghostbusters

The television reality show “Ghostbusters” started in 2004. According to the scenario, a team of researchers goes to places where paranormal phenomena and the appearance of ghosts have been noted. Geiger counters, electromagnetic field scanners, infrared emitters, night vision devices and other equipment were used to determine the location of the spirits. During the filming, according to the participants of the reality show, they repeatedly happened to encounter strange fogs, mysterious lights, wandering objects, and shapeless shadows, which nevertheless could not be fixed with devices, as they appeared unexpectedly and quickly disappeared.
