Does it mean a little or a lot? Well that all depends on who you ask. My name is Emily Williams (Emmy for short) and this is the story of how I inherited a small sum of money, a mansion and the answers to a family mystery…

I can remember the day just like it was yesterday. For as long as I can remember it has been just me. When I was fifteen years old tragedy struck leaving me orphaned.

I was sleeping over at a friend's house when I walked home the next day and instantly felt in my being something was terribly wrong. I walked inside my house and my home was completely destroyed. I thought to myself

I thought to myself oh my god what happened!

when I looked in the living room and fear instantly crept over me. I looked into the living room and saw blood, so much blood. First I saw my mother, laying there with her hands bound and her head caked in blood. Then I saw my father who looked the same. It looked like it was almost like they were bludgeoned with an axe. I immediately called the police and that was when the mystery began as no one was ever charged. I had no other family (or so I thought) so I had to be escorted to an orphanage where I stayed until I was eighteen. The day this story truly began I was a brisk November day exactly ten years from that dreaded night when I got a truly unbelievable phone call.

"Good afternoon is this Emily Williams?"

"Yes may I ask who is calling?" "

Of course mam, my name is Sergey Longin and I am your great aunts attorney and I am contacting you due to her inheritance."

"I'm sorry but I think you have the wrong person. I have no family left."

"I'm sorry you have to find out like this but she is indeed your great aunt, your estranged great aunt. She lived a long life though she was 80 when she passed."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing is this even possible? Why hadn't I ever heard of her? I guess I should meet him.

"Ok sir. Is there anywhere we can meet up so we can discuss this?"

"Sure when you are ready you can go to 4131 Newton Street, Minneapolis. Make sure to ask for Mr. Longin"

I was surprised that it was not even that far away, about an hour drive from where I currently am located. I finally arrived and I thought what am I doing? I know this is not possible. If I did have any other family why on earth would my parents not have told me about her when they were alive. Well better get this over

"Hello mam, welcome to Newton's law firm. Can I help you today?"

"Yes, I am here to see Mr. Longin, I'm Emily Williams"

"Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes, mam"

"Ok, let me call up and check- ok your good, his office is on the fourth floor and is on the first door on the left. I hope you have a great day."

Ok well I guess here goes nothing I think as I hit the elevator button.

I stand outside his door and knock... Why am I doing this?

"Hello Mr. Longin, It's Emily."

"Come on in madam"

The meeting lasted for about an hour and half and I found out some very VERY surprising information. The reason my parents never told me about my great aunt is because they did not know where she was. Apparently she disappeared without a trace before I was born and I'm assuming my parents just thought she ran off with someone. I also found out that I inherited not only 20,000 dollars of her money but also her estate.

I decided that I should go visit her estate and explore. I arrived an instantly I got a creepy sensation. Their were thin scraggly trees surrounding the property and the building itself was just real old looking. I will say though wow it was beautiful. It was kind of like an old timey mansion. Then I decided it was time to go inside and It was just as beautiful on the inside. There were two stories along with a basement and an attic. I also noticed from the outside there was a fireplace. I figured I would just start from the bottom and work my way up.

I went down to the basement and instantly felt creeped out but if I am being honest basements in general are a tad creepy. I looked in the corner and I saw cobwebs along with a giant spider web in the corner. Well i guess I am going to have to clean that up... It was nothing exciting down here though it was really just a basement.

The first story was gorgeous there was the kitchen along with a living room and library. The kitchen also had a large pantry storage area beside it. The kitchen had a table in the middle along with shelves to the side. It also had all gas appliances. It also had table covered in photos. I was so curious who these people were. There was a man with a suit and short hair, there was a woman in a long black dress and her hair up in a bun (i'm assuming this is my great aunt) both the man and the woman look like they were in their 50s to maybe their 60s. Along with four kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. I thought to myself that I wonder what happened to them but I guess i'll never know.

The living room was the next thing I looked at there was a couch along with a recliner and a old dinosaur looking television. There also was a glass cabinet with little figurines in it. Finally I went into the library and WOW. It was a novelist's dream. There were piles upon piles of novels.

Next I decided to go to the second story. There were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The three bedrooms I witnessed in the first stories were almost Identical and you could definitely tell it was historical. The walls were brick and the roof had a buttress style feel to it. On the ceiling were also chandeliers hanging beautifully. Finally the beds looked like they were Victorian themed. The bathrooms also were similar. There was a simple shower in the corner and towards the middle was a clawfoot bathtub. Then there was a marble sink along with tons upon tons of shelves.

I looked at the time and I could not believe my eyes, it was already 7:00 pm. I decided I was going to order food and continue exploring and organizing tomorrow.
