The locals in the little beach community had always been very calm and cool. It was a smaller city outside of the huge metropolis, ships came in and out the port to get supplies or to bring in supplies. Ships and boats were constantly rented out for parties and events from the shore. But there was this one instant where a boat had just sat out and never came in for weeks. People talked in the city about the "ship on the horizon" because all you could see was the ship, not the people and it would never come in.

At first the locals were light hearted and joked about the boat that had never come in. They said that they were scared of stepping on land as the water was their home. They also joked that it was a person taking a mini vacation so they wanted to stay out on the ocean for a while to get away. The local would laugh and joke it off. Some said the person or people would need to come onto shore soon for supplies. So the mystery would be solved.......but slowly the days turned into weeks and you could see the shift in the locals' eyes and mood about it.

That's when the crazy stories began to circulate with the locals, some had whispered that it was a murderer living on the boat. That's the reason why they had never come to shore. Because if they did they would be arrested, so by staying away from the shoreline ensured their safety. Another person said that the boat contained drugs and they were drug smugglers so again they were scared to dock the shore or they would be arrested. As weeks went by the stories became even crazier as the imagination of the locals circulated.

By the third week, people were wondering when the Coast Guard would go out and why they hadn't already. Speculation is that they knew it was a dangerous individual and they were too scared to approach the boat. They thought they might get shot or worse the person was linked to a criminal organization that would cause there to be some outbreak of crime and violence in the city. The locals began to worry and fret the "ship on the horizon" was now a very fearful thing for them.

By the end of the third week the Coast Guard made an announcement in the local paper that if anyone wanted to come forward about information on this ship to come forward. Which locals said seemed strange and obvious it was involved with a crime family. Two days later they announced on the local radio station they had an anonymous tip by someone's cousin that they weren't home and they thought it was his boat. They were immediately going out to check the boat as a health check.

When the Coast Guard arrived at the Ship they indeed found the man deceased on the boat. They had speculated that he had been dead for over two months already. He died previously from being put on the boat by the marks that were on his body. The marks were post-mortem meaning that they were done after being dead. The locals all were relieved that the ship issue had been resolved, No arrests have still been made to this date.

The newspaper story published said they were still investigating the homicide of the man on the ship on the Horizon. Then after two weeks they closed the case without making any arrests. This confirmed all of the locals suspicions that it was gang involvement. The Ship on the Horizon carried a big secret on to this day is left unsolved.
