Mary was in the kitchen, and she was so busy with the lunch she was making. Andrew was helping her in making lunch while Kerry was just there talking with them. ''Will you please help me with that dish over there?'' Mary said as she looked at Kerry. The dish was just before Kerry, and he could get it to her with ease. Andrew was busy slicing the potatoes. ''Why should I do that?'' Kerry asked in a tone that showed he didn't feel like he was part of the cooking. ''You will be part of those eating this food when we are done cooking it.

I don't see why you shouldn't help in doing one or two things to get the food ready,'' Mary replied. You already have Andrew helping you with the cooking. If you need more hands, you should go to the beach and get Mason and Mark to help you with the cooking,'' Kerry responded in a rude way. Andrew stopped slicing the potatoes and went to where the bowl was. He got it and went to where Mary was standing, he gave the bowl to her, he then turned to face Kerry, ''It is as simple as I just did. There is nothing wrong with it.

You wouldn't be less a man if you help her in doing the cooking,'' Andrew said to Kerry. ''He is not a man. He is just a thirteen-year-old rude teen,'' Mary said in response to what Andrew had just said. ''The last time I checked, you were also thirteen. Andrew is fourteen, Mason and Mark are thirteen too. So, we are all teens,'' Kerry glared. He was now looking angry. Kerry never liked being called a teen by his friends. He always loved to be feeling and behave like an adult.

He had always believed he was smarter and better than all of them; that was why he had refused to help Mary earlier. He was of believed that Mary was a girl and should be allowed to do all the chores alone, but the other boys never agreed with him. They were of the opinion that men should also do chores, just as women should also do chores. Kerry had two grown sisters. He was the last child of his parents. His sisters always did almost all the chores in the house, so he always had nothing to do.

His dad had always been the type that believed that cooking and doing chores were meant for women. His mom came to accept that belief, so Kerry was never taught how to do chores at home. Andrew was an only child of his parents. His mom and dad were chefs. They made sure they taught Andrew whatever chore that was needed to be done at home. This made Andrew be very used to every house chore. He loved helping out in the kitchen.

He always helped his parents whenever they were making meals in the kitchen. This kind of made him learn how to cook at a very young age. While Kerry and Mary were still arguing, Mason rushed into the kitchen. He was sobbing as he entered. Kerry, Mary, and Andrew looked surprised as they saw him sobbing. ''Hey, what is wrong?'' Mary asked immediately. He entered the kitchen. Mason continued to sob without saying anything to them.

''Mason, you have to say what the problem is so that we would all come together and get it solved,'' Andrew said as he tried to persuade Mason to talk. Mason continued to sob, still not saying anything to them. ''You have to stop acting as a kid and tell us what the problem is all about!'' Kerry yelled at Mason. Mason looked dumbfounded. He was going to talk, but words didn't seem to be coming out of his mouth. ''Mason, where is Mark?'' Mary asked as she fixed her gaze on Mason.

At this point, Mason broke down and started crying uncontrollably. Kerry, Andrew, and Mary became afraid. They looked at each other and took their gaze back to Mason, who was still crying. They were all now looking afraid. From the looks they already saw all over Mason; they could tell that something bad had happened. About an hour ago, Mary was swimming on the beach with Mason and Mark.

She was going to go to the beach with Mark, but Mason then booted in and said he was going with them. Mason, Mark, and Mary left for the beach that was not far from the beach house where they were staying. They had been in the beach house since the morning. It was a Saturday, and they had all agreed to spend the Saturday in the beach house. Their parents gave them their approval. They were inseparable friends and were all in the same class and were attending the same school. They always did almost everything together.

They were always seated close to each other in class. Everybody in the class knew them because they were always in the company of each other. They always protected each other from whatever danger could threaten either of them. If any of them had an issue with a particular student in the school, they always involved the rest of their group. They then team up and challenge whoever tried to fight either of them.

As a result of this, most of the students in the school avoided having issues with them because having an issue with just one of them meant having an issue with five of them. While Mary, Mason, and Mark left for the beach, Andrew and Kerry remained in the beach house. They had insisted they were not joining the rest as they were so tired that they wanted to have some rest.

While Mary was on the beach with Mason and Mark, they swam and played for about twenty-five minutes before Mary said she was going into the beach house to prepare them some lunch. She then went to the beach house and joined Andrew and Kerry. Kerry, Andrew, and Mary now rushed out of the beach house in search of Mark.

They were now running towards the beach because Mary had said it was the place, she last saw him. Mason had refused to say anything about what had happened to Mark and where they could find him. As they were approaching the beach, they could sight someone lying around the shore of the beach. He looked like Mark. They ran to him, and they found him lying lifelessly. Mary bent immediately and placed her ear to his chest, and his heart had stopped beating. He was already dead. They all started crying.

They couldn't tell what had happened to Mark. Mason later came out of the beach house and joined them. As they were there crying, some passerby called an ambulance. Mark was pronounced dead at the scene. Mason was asked to explain what had happened. Mason told everyone that he was swimming on the beach with Mark, then suddenly, he couldn't find Mark. He started searching everywhere for him.

According to Mason, at first, he had thought that Mark was pranking him, but after a short while, he started becoming afraid that something bad might have happened to Mark. He said he then found Mark on the water. He dragged him to the shore and pressed his tummy, and some water came out from his mouth, but that he wasn't breathing at the time. Mason said he then realized that Mark was dead.

Mark was the only child of his parents. His parents were initially having difficulty with making babies, but they eventually had Mark after about six years of being married. Being the only child of his parents, his parents loved him a lot. They did everything they could to make him comfortable and happy. They never enjoyed allowing him to go off their sight, unless when he was going to school or when it was very necessary that he was going to play with his friends.

Mark had always had this special likeness for Mary. He had always seen Mary as a special girl with whom he would love to have a special kind of relationship. They were friends, but Mark wanted the both of them to be something more than friends. He wanted to always be the one to make Mary happy. Mary, on her own part, liked Mark, but not as much as he liked her. She liked him as a friend, she would have even liked him more if he had spoken up about it first, but Mason had told her he liked her first.

What really happened was that Mark had liked Mary for a long time but couldn't open up about it. He had told Kerry and Andrew about it, and they were always making fun of him about it. Mark couldn't tell Mary that he liked her because he was shy to open up about it; he didn't want her to see him as the odd ones. Their were times Kerry was using this against him. Whenever they wanted something from him, they would threaten him that they were going to tell Mary that he liked her and was hiding it from her.

This would always make Mark give in to whatever they wanted. By this time, they were yet to meet Mason. Mason was the last member of their group. When he joined their group, he seemed to be closer to Mark than other members of the group. Because Mason was closer to Mark than every other member of the group, they sometimes discussed kinds of stuff that they couldn't discuss with others.

Mark had felt more comfortable with Mason than he had felt with Andrew and Kerry even though he was friends with Andrew and Kerry before he became friends with Mason. Because of how close and open he was with Mason; Mason was able to discover that he liked Mary. When Mason brought up the issue, Mark had confessed to Mason that he liked Mary.

Mark then told Mason that he wanted to talk to Mary about how he liked her and how he wanted her to be his special friends, and how he believed they could grow into lovers and marry each other in the future. He told Mason that he was afraid that Mary was going to reject him and that if she did reject him that it may affect their friendship. Unknown to Mark, Mary had liked him too but couldn't tell him about it. She didn't know he liked her.

She had heard some older people say that guys don't attach much value to girls that approach them to confess their feelings to them. This was why she didn't approach Mark to tell him what she was feeling for him. So, Mark then begged Mason that he should help him to tell Mary about how he was feeling for her. Mason had given him assurance that he was an expert in handling issues like that. When Mason now wanted to tell Mary about Mark's feelings for her, he instead chose to do something else.

Mason told Mary that he was the one that liked her. He never told Mary that Mark liked her. Mary had been waiting to see if she would get any green light from Mark, but he wasn't making any move, but Mason came and declared his interest, and he was very serious about it. With time, Mary started liking Mason. This got Mark very angry. He was so pissed with Mason when he discovered what Mason had done to him.

Mark was ready to flight with Mason, but Andrew and Kerry had told him to let Mason be because they kept using his feelings for Mary against him because they wanted to push him into building up some courage and approaching her to tell her what he was feeling for her, but he never did, he instead decided to recruit Mason to help him out, and Mason now took advantage of it.

All the likeness Mary used to have for Mark, she transferred them to Mason, but she still remained very friendly with Mark. She was surprised one day when Mark eventually told her that he liked her. Mark didn't tell her what Mason had done to him even though he was so angry about it. After what Mason had done to Mark, it was so difficult for them to remain friends again.

In the end, they found a way to patch things up even though they never got along so smoothly the way they used to before. After the issue with Mary, Mason became somewhat strange with his attitude towards Mark and Mary. Mary already accepted to be Mason's special friend. They were hoping to become lovers in the future as they were now always in the company of each other than they did with others.

The issue now was that Mason was never feeling comfortable whenever Mark was alone with Mary. He didn't like seeing only the two of them staying alone. Whenever he saw them staying or playing alone, he always got uncomfortable about it and always did all he could to separate them. This was why when Mary and Mark had concluded to go to the beach, and Mason decided to tag along with them so that he would reduce the closeness between them or prevent them from being too close to each other.

Four days after Mark was found dead, he was buried. The police had ruled out any form of foul play. They had concluded he died from drowning on the beach. Mark's death kind of cast a sorrowful shadow among his family. He was their only child. This kind of got them very destabilized. As for his friends, they missed him a lot. They had decided to be going to the beach like once in two months, but since Mark died, they abandoned that arrangement and never went to the beach again.

This was because going to the beach would end up reminding them about the tragic incident they had encountered. It's been four years since Mark died. His friends had managed to continue being friends without his presence among them. Initially, they were so pained by his absence, but with time they got used to it. ''Let's go to the beach this weekend,'' Mary said as they walked home. ''Are we still doing that?'' Mason asked in surprise. He was surprised that Mary suddenly spoke about going to the beach.

They never really spoke about going to the beach again since Mark died. ''I think we have avoided it for too long. Let's have fun. Mark is gone; he will never come back to us again,'' Kerry responded. ''Which beach will we be visiting this time?'' Andrew asked. ''The closes one around,'' Mary said. Mason was not looking comfortable with the arrangement. ''The closest beach around here is where Mark died,'' Mason complained. ''Yes, I know. We can't bring him back, but we can go there and cherish his memory.

That was the last place we had the opportunity to be with him,'' Mary explained. They all later agreed to go to the same beach where Mark had died. Mason was the only one objecting, so there was no how he could convince the rest to change their mind from going to the beach. He was already in a relationship with Mary, but he was still feeling somewhat uncomfortable with her having anything to do with the memory of Mark.

It was 12:09 AM, and Mary was woken from sleep by what she couldn't describe. She was feeling goosebumps all over her body. She couldn't explain why she was feeling that way. She was the only one sleeping in the room. She was sharing the room with Mason, but Mason wasn't in the room. She could remember she was seated at the front of the beach house with Mason with some other folks who had come to spend the weekend around the beach.

They were having some conversation and were making some jokes when Mary started feeling sleepy. Kerry and Andrew, who were sharing the same room in the beach house, had gone into their own room earlier to sleep because they had been so busy with a lot of fun during the day and were very tired. Mary was surprised on why Mason was yet to come to bed. She got off the bed and walked to the room Kerry was sharing with Andrew. She knocked on the door severally but got no response.

She then opened the door. She couldn't find Mason in the room, but she wasn't okay with the position she had seen Kerry and Andrew occupying in the room. They were both lying on the floor while the bed was empty. She tried waking them up but discovered that they were dead. This sent strong fear all over her spine. She rushed out to search for Mason. She got to the front of the beach house and found Mason lying dead on the ground. Mary didn't know what to do as she was filled with fear.

She was already crying. She had brought out her phone to call her parents when she saw someone standing before her. It was a face she would never forget in her life. ''Mark,'' Mary called out as she cried. She got no response. ''Is that you, Mark?'' She asked. Again, she got no response. ''You are dead, Mark. I don't know what is happening, but I watched them bury you. What is wrong with Mason, Andrew, and Kerry?''

Mary asked as she cried. ''Mary, you knew I could swim more than all of you, but none of you ever questioned my death after you heard I drowned,'' Mary heard the voice of Mark saying. She could feel he was angry and sorrowful at the same time. She was going to talk, but words were not coming out of her mouth. She then remained quiet and looked at Mark as she stopped crying. She was shocked. ''I killed Andrew and Kerry because they failed to question my death.

You all have been enjoying yourselves while I remained heartbroken. I also killed Mason because he killed me,'' Mark added. Mary was shocked by what she had just heard. She was shocked to hear that Mason had killed Mark. She knew he had always acted jealously whenever he saw her with Mark, but she didn't know he could bring himself to kill Mark. ''I have always loved you, Mary, but you disappointed me by not asking questions about my death.

Perhaps because your boyfriend was the one that killed me. I only left you life because I never stopped loving you.'' Mark disclosed. At this point, Mary started crying uncontrollably. She continued to cry that she didn't even know when Mark left her. She eventually passed out and woke up the next day to find herself in the hospital.
