Last Part

The following is a final report for the events that we have seen transpire since the emergence of this new menace. Perhaps if we had made peace when we saw the Pear Trees, less destruction would have happened and all of mankind could have lived in peace.

Argentina fell fast, and with one meeting of the various states, South America became overtaken. In no time several leaders died. It turned out that the equator was too hot for most life now. Even them. It was a lucky barrier that prevented them from entering North America.

India and Australia fell even faster. In India, a beautiful woman came to shore with the turtles early. They stood no chance. There were so many slugs that some became one with the cattle since they were more plentiful than people. In Australia, an army of penguins landed and within a month Australia and South East Asia were invaded since water or the Equator were not barriers to the swimming birds.

The slugs infested leaders that died, and had puppets put in their places. They found having subordinate humans helped in conquering the globe.

At a global summit, Russian, Chinese and United States leaders were attacked with the slugs' motives being exposed. This forced the three adversaries to unite against the South. North America was invaded by spies that flew there from India, where they finally succeeded in replacing their leader. This gave the slugs nuclear weapons. Their first target was themselves to fake being attacked.

This forced the rest of the world to turn against China and Russia even though the United States attacked itself. Russia and China finally learned what they were up against. They united together to end the slug menace even as more capitols put up Pear Trees, a delicacy to the slugs.

This was found out early in China, as those infected would salivate uncontrollably when shown pears. The army was given pears to keep on them at all times. Anyone without their daily pear was exposed immediately to one. This technique was passed on to Russia; but not before Russia nuked its own fertile land after the slugs overtook two silos in central Asia.

As more slug populations took over the west coast of North America and Russia, the armies began taking out each other's cities to prevent the spread. If they had found out about the pears sooner all of that previous death could have been avoided. Most of the northern hemisphere had controlled the infestation. However, North America kept flaring up with slugs, but due to marshal law and the deputizing of militias even they eventually got their act together.

Over time it was found out how to expel the slugs. Given that they would become part of its hosts heart by eating it away, the person needed medical attention immediately. But by using a saline solution the slug would automatically leave its host. Most of the world's food supplies crashed as the two main sources were now nuclear wastelands.

The slugs were carnivorous so losing grains did not hurt them until people started starving to death. With less food there were less humans meaning less slugs. This changed the slugs' tactics and they took a less warlike stance.

First, they turned to technology and started hydroponic towers underground. They also chose to only infect leaders since they were the ones who could control the masses of humans. The Northern Alliance, made up of North America, Africa, Europe, Russia and China, slowly lost its fronts as the slugs tried to show us how wonderful life could be under their control.

The Northern Alliance could not fire on a populace that seemed happy. But were they happy or were the slugs just making them think they were happy? Borders were heavily defended and pear trees grew at gates armed with Howitzers in case any army amassed.

No army came to or through their walls. Again, they invaded through air travel. It was due to a shortage of pears caused by the slugs controlling the southern hemisphere. But they infected only the rich and powerful. This caused those humans to dig into the ground.

As the slugs built more hydroponic towers into the ground, they accumulated more and more water. Eventually, the water was so much that the land above and around them desertified; rivers, lakes, ponds and streams dried up, and humans built cities around the towers so they did not have to travel too far for food.

Within several years the first tube and rail slipstreams were created making travel above ground obsolete. The only flights we took were to the stars. After the Musk Rail Towers were built to eliminate the use of chemical propulsion, humans tried to start over on Mars and the moon. Birth defects prevented the first generation from being productive and Mars was given up on for some time and was only used for exploration.

On the moon at least pregnancies came to term but they all had brain encephalitis. Unfortunately, they all died on their first trip to Earth as the atmosphere crushed their bodies like a can. So, there was no escape from the slugs' control.

Once space failed and the rich elite learned how powerful having a slug made them feel, they passed them on to their young to control the poor. But those who had no slug stopped reproducing so the slugs had less humans to supply them.

The final war was more of a social act than a war as the slugs were forced to reveal themselves after salt water became a trend. Humans sent a coupon for a free bottle of a new beverage. The fastest consumer would become a winner of one billion dollars. The whole world was sent a coupon via social media.

The bottles were sent to homes that did not ask for them but the chance at winning that much money was worth trying the beverage. After the whole world expended their slug, they forced pears on the populace to expose anyone who had not tried the drink. The ploy succeeded and after an attack that decimated all Penguin species in Antarctica, the slugs were finally exterminated.

Or were they?????
