yes they're connected

These movies are connected and have at least one other movie in the universe. The main thing connecting the movies together is the Warrens. Also some of the spirits make an appearance in multiple films in the universe of the conjuring. I will also point out things you may not have known or noticed.

The first movie is the Nun which is set in Romania in 1952. The spirit Valac/Valak makes an appearance in this movie as well as the conjuring movies. Valak has been around since the middle ages. Some of you may have not noticed the upside down cross on Frenchy's neck it was there because he was the excorism that appears in the footage in the first conjuring movie. Valak had used him as a host even though Valac was doomed to hell. The excorism was Lorraine Warren's first run in with Valac. It was also plot point in the conjuring 2.

So Annabelle creation was set in California in 1955. The prologue was in 1943 when we see Annabelle being made by a toy maker. Also in the story we get a nod to the nun when we see sister Charolette showing a picture and telling of her time in a convent in Romania. Did anyone see Valac in the corner of the picture? A demon was in Annabelle even though the family of the toy maker thought it was the spirit of their daughter, who they prayed to see again. The demon then possessed Janice who then is later adopted after she kills the Higgins who had adopted her.

Annabelle was based in Santa Monica in 1967. Janice passes the demon back to the doll after she kills herself. Mia had the doll in her house and found help from the church. A priest is attacked by Annabelle before he could get the help of the Warrens, I mean who else would he call? Evaline saves Mia's baby while trying to put a stop to Annabelle by jumping out the window. Annabelle is taken away by the police only to be in an antique shop and bought by a lady for her daughter.

This leads us to the beginning of the conjuring which was based in Rhode Island in 1971. This movie introduces a few elements of some of the movies we already talked about but it mainly deals with the Parren family and the ghost haunting them, Bathsheba. At the end of this movie we get a reference to the Amityville horror which is also mentioned in the conjuring 2.

Annabelle comes home is set in Connecticut in 1972. This story is both happening alongside and after the conjuring. This movie follows the story of Judy, the daughter of the Warren. The friend of the girl who's baby sitting Judy unleashes the Annabelle. We are introduced to some items that may make appearance in future films.

The curse of La Llorona was set in Los Angeles in 1973. The prologue was set 300 years earlier. A case worker and mother turns to the same priest we saw in Annabelle. The weeping woman is contained by a priest and the family is saved. In a deleted scene the necklace that contains La Llorona was handed to the priest and he mentions he will give it someone he knows on the east coast who handles this sort of thing.... meaning the warrens.

The Conjuring 2 is set in Enfield London in 1977. The prologue wraps up the Amittyvile case which was mentioned at the end of the first conjuring film. Janette is possessed by the spirit of an old man. Lorraine doesn't want to take on the case because she keeps having visions of Ed's death by the hands of Valac. There's several ghost and spirits involved including the nun and the crooked man. Lorraine damns the nun back to hell so her visions won't come true. The warrens get a new item for their collection.

We may get more movies including another conjuring movie and some more about the nun and the crooked man. If we do I'll write about it but of course this may take years. Hope you enjoyed this post.
