Ravenwood Asylum was once a place of healing and hope for the mentally ill. But after a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances, it was shut down and abandoned. The locals avoided it like the plague, believing it to be haunted by the restless spirits of the patients and staff who died there.

But not everyone was afraid of the asylum. A group of thrill-seeking teenagers decided to explore it one night, hoping to find some evidence of paranormal activity. They brought along a camera, a flashlight, and a Ouija board. They had no idea what they were getting themselves into.

The group consisted of Jake, the leader and the bravest of them all; Mia, his girlfriend and the most skeptical one; Ryan, Jake's best friend and a prankster; Zoe, Ryan's crush and a believer in ghosts; and Tyler, the nerd and the cameraman. They parked their car near the gate of the asylum and climbed over the fence. They walked towards the main building, which loomed over them like a dark fortress.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Tyler asked nervously.

"Relax, man. It's just an old building. Nothing to be scared of," Jake said.

"Unless you believe in ghosts," Zoe added.

"I don't. Do you?" Mia asked.

"I do. I've seen them before," Zoe said.

"Really? When?" Ryan asked.

"When I was little. My grandma used to live in a haunted house. I saw a woman in a white dress walking down the hallway once. She looked at me and smiled. It was creepy," Zoe said.

"Wow. That's cool," Ryan said.

"Cool? That's terrifying," Tyler said.

"Come on, guys. Let's go inside," Jake said.

They followed him to the entrance, which was boarded up with wooden planks. Jake kicked them down and opened the door. A gust of cold air hit them as they stepped inside. The flashlight revealed a long corridor with peeling paint, broken windows, and scattered debris.

"Wow. This place is creepy," Mia said.

"Creepy? This place is awesome," Jake said.

He led them deeper into the asylum, exploring the different rooms and hallways. They saw old beds, wheelchairs, medical equipment, and files. They also saw graffiti on the walls, some of them with ominous messages like "Help me", "Get out", and "He's coming".

"Who's coming?" Tyler asked.

"I don't know. Maybe the ghost of Dr. Ravenwood," Jake said.

"Who's Dr. Ravenwood?" Zoe asked.

"He was the founder and director of this asylum. He was a genius in his field, but also a madman. He experimented on his patients, trying to cure them with electroshock therapy, lobotomies, and drugs. He was obsessed with finding the root of madness and unlocking the secrets of the human mind," Jake said.

"How do you know all this?" Mia asked.

"I did some research online before we came here. There are rumors that he killed himself in his office after his experiments went wrong and some of his patients escaped and attacked him," Jake said.

"Where's his office?" Ryan asked.

"It's on the top floor. That's where we're going," Jake said.

They continued their exploration, finding more signs of decay and horror. They heard strange noises like creaking floors, dripping water, and whispering voices. They felt cold spots and sudden breezes. They saw shadows moving in the dark corners.

They finally reached the top floor, where they found a large metal door with a sign that read "Dr. Ravenwood's Office". Jake tried to open it, but it was locked.

"Damn it. It's locked," he said.

"Maybe we should leave it alone," Tyler suggested.

"No way. We came here to find some ghosts. And I bet there's one behind this door," Jake said.

He looked around and found a crowbar lying on the floor. He picked it up and used it to pry open the door. It took him some effort, but he managed to break the lock and open the door.

He entered the office, followed by his friends. The office was large and spacious, with a desk, a bookshelf, a fireplace, and a window overlooking the grounds of the asylum. There were also several paintings on the walls, depicting scenes of madness and suffering.

On the desk, there was a leather-bound journal with a gold lettering that read "Dr. Ravenwood's Notes". Jake picked it up and opened it.

"What does it say?" Mia asked.

"It's his diary. He wrote about his experiments and his theories. Listen to this: 'I have finally found it. The key to madness. The source of all evil. The dark side of the human soul. It is a parasite. A worm that feeds on the brain and drives the host insane. I have seen it with my own eyes. I have extracted it from some of my patients. It is alive. It is intelligent. It is evil. It is the nightmare.' What the hell is he talking about?" Jake said.

"Maybe he was crazy too," Ryan said.

"Maybe he was onto something," Zoe said.

"Maybe we should get out of here," Tyler said.

"Wait. There's more. He wrote something on the last page. It says: 'I have made a terrible mistake. The nightmare is not a parasite. It is a symbiote. It does not kill the host. It merges with it. It enhances its abilities. It gives it power. It makes it immortal. It makes it a god. I have become one with the nightmare. I have transcended my humanity. I have become something else. Something more. Something beyond good and evil. Something beyond life and death. Something beyond reality and imagination. I am the nightmare.' What does that mean?" Jake said.

"I don't know, but it sounds bad," Mia said.

"Maybe he's still here," Zoe said.

"Maybe he's behind you," Ryan said.

He pointed behind Jake, where a figure was standing in the shadows. It was a man, or what used to be a man. He was tall and thin, with pale skin, black hair, and red eyes. He wore a white coat stained with blood and dirt. He had a twisted smile on his face and a worm-like creature wrapped around his head.

It was Dr. Ravenwood.

He stepped out of the shadows and spoke in a raspy voice.

"Hello, children. Welcome to my asylum. I've been expecting you."
