The Haunting Giant Request For A Small Act
A Short Fiction Fable Submitted To The Dead Air Challenge

For nearly a century, the Patriotic Sons of Freedom Forest held home field rights to a neighborly tension filled conflict that spanned generations. Decades ago, the resentment anger reached a high pitch, and an unknown mystical force unleashed a microscopic menace bent on changing the future’s positive image. Striking a rural ancestry directly. the Donaldson larger than life presence shrunk immediately, turning the established family into dwarf characters straight from a child’s nocturnal fairy tale conversation, flaunting moral messages.
Today, only one survivor remained, due to devastating reproduction realities following evil malicious moves, ending the royal aristocratic super-sized lineage. Sammy Dwarfson resided alone inside a tree trunk protected by a miniature door and room perfectly sized, mimicking his nation’s fantasy Prince’s model train display.
Soon after the tragic mushroom presentation explosion, Sammy’s grand papa decided a legal name change, effectively making his feelings heard.
“I want the enemy always to feel the guilt and remember we were once gigantic Donalds and now we are meek dwarfs living simple existences,” the elder statesman once said.
Hiding downstairs inside the bark, Sammy fiddled with radio stations, seeking out the best selection. Legendary storytelling, expressed soothing musical beats, distributing calming peaceful entertainment, assisting anyone managing anger.
Finding his favorite outlet, Sammy relished listening to the mother and daughter act known as the Trumpeting Thomps. It did not take long; Sammy drifted off, departing, anticipating, a dream vacation. During the excursion through the safe unconscious unknown, Sammy noticed a gigantic shadow overpowering his restful state.
Detecting eyes open, he let out a scream, realizing this was not some vision, fueled using his sleepy status. "Who are you?"
"I am Garvey the Giant, and I am here to request vote for me,"
"Excuse me,"
"I want a vote from you?"
"And if I don't?"
Everything went silent, and Sammy returned to the tranquil bedtime tradition, when the sun appeared encouraging the glowing illumination 'tap him on the shoulder'. Rising and regaining alertness, Sammy went straight to the transistor device and tried activating the voice box.
"What is going on?" Confused, Sammy could not discover a signal, then bolted outside, noticing Garvey the Giant grinning.
"Are you going to vote for me?"
"What did you do?" Sammy investigated.
"Blew off enough hot air last night podium posturing and knocked all your communication down," Garvey the Giant proudly proclaimed.
"Your gale force wind did what?"
Ignoring the inquiry, Garvey the Giant continued, "I stopped here today, personally requesting a vote from you; that is how much I care about you."
Laughing Garvey the Giant, monitored Sammy take a few steps back, "how dare you?" Rendering a frustrating outburst, the tiny subject removed himself from the discussion.
For an hour, Sammy sat in a chair staring into space, peering over towards the radio, thinking the situation ended when a blinking light started flashing. "Maybe the signal has been fixed," Sammy hoped. But tinkering the knob only revealed political rhetoric, "all there is a single message! Make Garvey the Giant Great Again," and off in the distance a loudspeaker blared sophisticated giggling.
Due to no longer having tranquil escapes, Sammy decided on a hike and listening; natural wilderness crackling brought comfort until an unbelievable sight emerged upon arriving back home.
Serenading, Garvey the Giant the Trumpeting Thomps. Catching himself before calling out "Carol and Sue," the performance was not disturbed. Completing the lyrical stage experience, the duet accepted one person's applause, "I surely will vote for you in the International Song Contest, next year," Garvey the Giant spoke, "oh Sammy, I replaced your radio."
Gesturing a thank you gratitude hand, Sammy watched Garvey the Giant leave, while Carol and Sue sideswiped the short military stance, "I should have sung happy birthday," Carol noted.
"But it's not his birthday," Sue clarified.
